Royal Mail thief’s scanning parcels at another mail centre, how is it possible?
I know most of Royal Mail staff are honest, but can someone who works for Royal Mail explain to me how can a parcel that was posted in Manchester be scanned in at arrived in Brighton Mail centre 2 hours later.. this is impossible unless my parcel was picked up from the post office by a helicopter. Is there an option on Royal Mail devices to change your location?

We're not allowed to change the location.
What's the tracking number so we can see if there's anything else that stands out as being unusual

The initial (Acceptance) scan could be delayed or manually entered due to a failure, meaning the time it got moving and the time it hit the computer are far further apart than it'd seem. There are also issues with duplicated barcodes (edited delivery stickers), which mean one "parcel" can scan delivered 3-4 times, in 3-4 locations and we don't seem to get told, just find out when we look at the tracking as to why it has gone missing.
You also didn't' say if you're the sender or recipient, some senders (like amazon) can generate the tracking number and start the parcels travel before we can even see it on the tracker.

I'm guessing it's an incorrect tracking code, or a duplicate.

It’s not an incorrect code I sent it myself, while yes it could be a duplicate I don’t believe it is. I know a few other people that have had parcels going missing.BenacreNick wrote: ↑11 Oct 2022, 16:12I'm guessing it's an incorrect tracking code, or a duplicate.

Please refrain from calling us thieves unless you have evidence. There is nothing in your question/explanation which would suggest it has been stolen.

If you read my post I said most of you are honest but I know for a fact there is plenty of thief’s in Royal Mail. Trust me.fluxburner wrote: ↑12 Oct 2022, 17:09Please refrain from calling us thieves unless you have evidence. There is nothing in your question/explanation which would suggest it has been stolen.

Why would I trust someone who doesn't work in our industry but seems to know there are a lot of thieves operating in it. As all industries there are bad eggs but very few. You rammed your opinión in with your head line post. Again, where is your evidence? If you have none, amend your post.

No one else had a problem with the title except you. I post up to 50 packages a day, it does not take two weeks for a special to get there and it couldn’t be just misplaced especially with the size and weight of the package, I know it’s been stolen. Enjoy your day off tomorrow try not to wake up on the wrong side of bed again:)fluxburner wrote: ↑12 Oct 2022, 18:50Why would I trust someone who doesn't work in our industry but seems to know there are a lot of thieves operating in it. Plenty of people have a problem with the title, the vast majority just ignore people who go about making wild accusations.
Interesting that you "know" it has been stolen, in most cases the item has simply been misplaced or delayed, but you carry on with your baseless comments. Perhaps if you say what job you do, we can insinuate that thieves are in that line of work.
And for the record, I left RM for another job so don't bother trying to accuse me of anything.

Am I getting upset? Do you live in a fantasy world?
I am just standing up for former colleagues when some random idiot starts posting baseless accusations about them.
And of course everything online is the truth so I would be bound to put google searching as more believable than my own experieice.

And I have just searched online and I found this https://www.statista.com/statistics/303 ... uk-y-on-y/
Given the number of mail items, the number of reported thefts is phenomenally low

All them sentences and fines for stealing must be made up as well then. It’s not like you don’t know that there are thief’s in Royal Mail. I know 99% of people working in Royal Mail are honest but there are thief’s and you know that yourself. It’s not like the title was calling everyone on this forum a thief. I was simply asking how is it possible for thief’s to scan packages at another mail centre.fb1969 wrote: ↑12 Oct 2022, 19:13Am I getting upset? Do you live in a fantasy world?

Re: Royal Mail thief’s scanning parcels at another mail centre, how is it possible?
See my post above yours.
" I know 99% of people working in Royal Mail are honest" - it is more than 99% actually. But you chose to base your thread title on what you say is 1% of the workforce.
"I was simply asking how is it possible for thief’s to scan packages at another mail centre" - it may be possible for someone to do it, but again you decided to say thief again.
To answer your question and it is only based on experience of working "outdoors" rather than "indoors" in terms of using the PDA. If delivered items for another delivery office but using one of my office's PDAs, the scan would show that the item was delivered by my office. It is vaguely possible that something like that has happened.
But if the scans are showing that, contact Customer Services and they should be able to check the individual who was logged into the PDA for the scans.
