Wonder why RM want to get rid of the sick pay for genuine cases?

It’s also the managements fault. You can’t punish the 95% because of the actions of the 5% (I’m being generous with those figures too, probably far less). You need proper management to address the issue properly. Punishing over 100K of your workforce is not the solution in the long-run.
Unless, of course, your agenda is just slashing T&C’s and these few shirkers are just a convenient cover story.
You decide.

Yep, too many people seem to play the system, being off sick every Xmas pressure period without fail. Whereas posties with genuine sickness / long term health issues fear going off sick for fear of losing their job.2yearpostie wrote: ↑12 Oct 2022, 18:13Wonder why RM want to get rid of the sick pay for genuine cases?![]()

Sort of suspected that, we've had the same, obviously I'm no doctor but having first hand experience of a family member who genuinely suffered from it I'm certain our last one to get paid off was bluffing, perhaps they all go on to get great careers in acting as they must be convincing someone along the way.

Managers do the same in away and get TWO years as they volunteer even though someone does their job, Is it right is it wrong just look at the people at the very top is it right or wrong you have your own answer?ted_e_bear wrote: ↑13 Oct 2022, 13:09Sort of suspected that, we've had the same, obviously I'm no doctor but having first hand experience of a family member who genuinely suffered from it I'm certain our last one to get paid off was bluffing, perhaps they all go on to get great careers in acting as they must be convincing someone along the way.

Re: Redundancies (do you think this could happen
Going back to OP. Today's news hopefully means those who were looking to leave anyway will get s well deserved pay out, however much it may be. Crap thing is, it will probably from the best staffed offices as most can't do the job with the staff they have already.

They are using job cut threats thats no surprise in a company that accepts bullying, the truth is far to many people take the micky out of sick pay and as in most things in life its the genuine who suffer the vast majority of us are hard working fair minded people. We put a lot of miles in after 20/25 years knees give up along with backs ankles etc i think most of us in our 50s and over have Arthritis so nearing retirement the will to work through the pain goes and IHR becomes more likely.

Re: Redundancies (do you think this could happen
Sorry but no, never going to happen despite what RM might have said today about redundancies... the figures for job losses quoted can easily be achieved in the timescale mentioned through natural attrition and a recruitment freeze without the need for RM to spend millions giving posties generous payoffs.
