Do you still have overtime in your office?

So today my COM and sell-out of a union rep both announced that anyone doing flip-flopping will have to prep 2 days worth of Mail per walk per day and go on the sorting all week, thereby adding a potential 5-6 hours to their week, as opposed to to double prepping all week.

This is the final straw for me, I’m bowing out of doing any overtime. Time to pursue other sources of revenue.

The neighbouring office to mine; nobody does overtime, Christmas will be interesting. What’s the situation in everyone else office? Do you still get offered overtime? If so, how much for covering a half or a whole walk?

From what I gather RM only want to pay you for the hours you work. Yeah you can’t really argue against it, however, considering the physically intensity of the job + the hourly rate dropping every 10
hours. Who the f*** want it!

Used to do plenty but that was when you would get paid say 2 hours and finish maybe 1 hour later, since now they only pay you for exact hours I’ve simply stopped doing it as the rate is so poor you actually take home less for a days overtime than a regular day! They can argue about paying what you work but no other job would they actually pay you less for going over your time, the sooner everyone refuses they might realize it’s a poor rate. I keep arguing with don about cutting off but as I explained it’s not worth it anymore so Christmas is going to be cutting off bonanza for me

Loads of overtime going in our craphole as we have 30 duties vacant and it's mostly covered by triple lapsing and if you say no I'm working to my time you get the screws bearing down on you and taken into the office and threats to be moved off duty, the whole place is one festering s**t driven cesspool of bullying twats.

Hardly anybody does overtime in my office.
We just don't have the energy.
The agency has never had it so good.

Still a bit available at ours. Seems like they would rather pay a bit extra to clear what they can rather than leave loads in. Still plenty of lapsed duties at the moment too that get cleared on lighter days but go out as ot on heavier days and Saturdays

Overtime galore in ours, people been starting 2 hours earlier every day for years to do tracked parcels, people working day off every week for years, if they stopped the office would be absolute shambles, never do any myself don't want it and too knackered anyway!!

What a soul destroying prospect, it's bad enough when you have a day off and come back to a duty that hasn't been delivered the previous day, can't believe this has become the new accepted norm.

Mgmt blamed failures on covid to cover their own backs and get people to alternate between the 2 park and loop duties even to the extent of moving your partner to accomodate this way of working

Plenty available in ours, I do some but if I’m taking any off another duty I make sure to get a deal before I agree. I’m not doing it for a rate lower than usual. I sometimes get 4 hours which I complete in an hour and a half. If those at the top can cream off then I want a bit too.

This should be shown to the regulator even though they are toothless. Wee plooky Simon tried to frighten people by redundancies but knows that it will just be a mathematics exercise as most do,s are understaffed anyway. Has RM really went tits up so fast since privatisation. And the union, well I think they need to get militant.

A first for our office today in this dispute - told no overtime being payed today, everyone back by finish time, make sure you do your tracked .. Don't know if this overtime ban, not that I do any, will carry on into next week and beyond... We're told order came from above.
