Possibly but most jobs will go through people leaving and not being replaced as RM don't want to spend millions paying people to.leave.
I wouldnt hold my breath and not take something else in the meantime in the hope you get a pay off

I haven't bothered to check the accuracy of the figures but I was told this ballot for industrial action was 40 000 members lighter than the ballot in 2009.
In 13 years the CWU has lost 40 000 members which probably means 40 000 jobs in RM.
I know of very few VR payments in that time. I don't see any reason to expect any this time round.
I certainly wouldn't be counting on it.

There is a government minimum for redundancies it then depends if RM have an enhanced package. Here's the basics from gov.uk.

Statutory redundancy pay

You’ll normally be entitled to statutory redundancy pay if you’re an employee and you’ve been working for your current employer for 2 years or more.

You’ll get:

half a week’s pay for each full year you were under 22one week’s pay for each full year you were 22 or older, but under 41one and half week’s pay for each full year you were 41 or older

Length of service is capped at 20 years.

Your weekly pay is the average you earned per week over the 12 weeks before the day you got your redundancy notice.

If you were made redundant on or after 6 April 2022, your weekly pay is capped at £571 and the maximum statutory redundancy pay you can get is £17,130. If you were made redundant before 6 April 2022, these amounts will be lower.

With the amount of vacancies in offices I doubt anyone will get redundancy, they just won't fill the vacancies, that gets rid of people for free. I would jump at the chance under the current agreement, 2 years wages to go today, where do I sign?

ZERO chance of any large scale redundancies.

Virtually every D.O. across the country is already ran on a less than skeleton staff, RM will easily be able to reduce the workforce by thousands, even tens of thousands in a relatively short time period, simply by not replacing any employees leaving through natural wastage.

I believe in my office the last VRs were 2013 or 2014, so right around the time of privatisation. Some senior guys hung on for years after that waiting for an offer that never came.
