So what happens when RM switch on this system and say, "Right everyone's got to sign in and out using the scanner and their ID cards starting this morning"? are we all meant to say "It's not been agreed we're not using it"?

And if we don't use the SISO are we going to get paid?

I understand the situation and the principles at stake ... but what are we meant to do from day one? I'm asking because this rather long winded letter doesn't make it very clear IMO. :cuppa
Union will conduct local ballot or issue THE EMPLOYER of a local disagreement kind of like the I/R framework and the union will tell the staff what they should do. Most probably take all your meal reliefs and don't start early or just do not use the scan in scan out!
No they won't.

That would depend upon other factors that may come with the introduction of new technology and ways of working at the same time every office is different so will be the response!

I'll make it easier.
Do it in steps..

Step one..
Should we be using it to scan in and out?
Answer Yes.
Whilst we are in opposition to the deployment, for the clear reasons outlined, we believe that our advice to our members is that they should comply with any instruction from managers to log in/out, (scan in/out) as would be the case with the current paper based system.
Step 2
Can they use it for anything other than scanning in and out?
Answer No.
The Postal Executive has been clear that any attempts by Royal Mail to use SISO for resourcing, or revisions, or for disciplinary purposes or to seek to introduce total flexible working, annualised hours or a flexi banking hours’ system; or to use the system beyond these commitments contained within paragraph 2.5 Technology of the Pathway to Change Agreement will be opposed by all means possible, including the use of the ‘Change Ballot’ mandate. This will also include any attempts by Royal Mail to break the commitment in the Pathway to Change Agreement that SISO data will not be used for the automatic reduction of contractual pay or reduce overtime pay where a (verbal) contract has been agreed with the manager, prior to commencement
What can we do if they try to use it for anything else?
Answer Use the IR Framework including local industrial action that does not require a separate local ballot
It is also relevant to point out to Branches that following legal advice it has been confirmed that our national ‘Change Ballot’ can be used to announce strike action at selected units where Royal Mail seeks to move forward executive action. This applies where the local executive action is in breach of the Pathway to Change and associated agreements as set out in the ‘Change Ballot’. There is no need for these units to ballot again separately but Branches would have to request additional strike action in time to allow for endorsement of the Postal Executive and the mandatory notice period to be given.

Thanks
But I can see big problems with the way they are implementing this some offices may only start half an hour later but some could be 3 hours or more with start times latter than 10:30. This is why I was saying every office will be different this is life changing change for some while for others a mild inconvenience in their lives each office will act as they see fit!

Thought they abrogated those agreements on the 22nd of last month and totally ripped up the pathway to change agreement but maybe RM will go easy on us this time?

Sorry Woody but RM have a very different interpretation of your last post here: viewtopic.php?f=87&t=105975&hilit=start+times+list
Sorry but this is just part of why we are on strike and pay is the least of them!

Click on the link in my post above the game is up for all who cannot adapt to the change RM is proposing hence why we will strike to the end of the business and it's muppets in charge!

You don't know what you're talking about.
What I put up is Royal Mail's current interpretation.

What you've linked to is their future wish list/scare tactic
Do try to keep up.

Thanks for the Highlights Woodie. :thumbup

I realise CWU communications have to explain a lot of details, to cover every aspect, but they read like a legal document sometimes, and are very difficult to absorb.

I've often thought they should provide a SINGLE page precis at the end of these rambling LTBs with pertinent bullet points. :hmmmm

I'm sure it would get the General message across easier to the majority of members who only spend a few minutes looking at the CWU Notice board, and only have an attention span of 60 seconds? :cuppa

I usually summarise the LTBs in our WhatsApp group and tell them that the full details will be on the notice board.
