The union master plan
Where is the plan the union were supposed to unveil to Royal Mail ? The union need to keep us up to date and engaged , they can’t go days on end with no updates and expect us just to accept it.

Re: The union master plan
I don't think there IS a master plan - I think the union are bereft of ideas on this one, as never before has a CEO dug their heels in to the depths that Thompson has, and remain in post. Other CEO's have capitulated before now. Rico Back was long gone before things had got to the current levels. All the union has done in response is to up the ante by increasing strikes - tbh i can't see what other action there is to take and it probably explains their silence.chickenwittle wrote: ↑05 Oct 2022, 10:14Where is the plan the union were supposed to unveil to Royal Mail ? Historic agreements served notice on, even down to the CWU having to source their own avenues to get subs in from next year, executive action being steam rollered in, the future is bleak to say the least

I could not agree more! People aren't just getting the fact that we are not going to get anything better from now in... I can t see RM now giving in and accepting to keep our terms and conditions and give his inflation busting pay rise.priority102 wrote: ↑05 Oct 2022, 10:55I don't think there IS a master plan - I think the union are bereft of ideas on this one, as never before has a CEO dug their heels in to the depths that Thompson has, and remain in post. We are now just losing pay for the sake of it; thinking that we might cripple the company to the point of them giving up on their changes.
In fact, we are accelerating the changes with far less input than we would have had before pushing the nuclear option. The Union's bluff has been truly called - nowhere else to go than to capitulate or go for broke and become totally irrelevant going forward.
With every Wednesday strikes in October, you could be forgiving for thinking that the CWU do not care about us anymore but just doing it for the sake of it. We can strike and RM can cover - so what next? They can easily plan for the next 3 Wednesdays strikes - just hold a little back here and there and continue with the use of agency staff and their managers that gave been incentivised to work harder and no go off sick.
The November strike up to Dec 2 will definitely be a make or break for both sides - that is if folks do not lose faith in the Union or cause by then. Or starved!
When RM choose to stop taking money off our wages automatically - I know that I'll be doing with my subs. Can we even join another Union? I am sick of the CwU - they are just a relic of the public institutions and not cut out for modern day industrial relations with a PLC. They are too big and need breaking up!

Re: The union master plan
They seem to be spending most of their time dealing with the BT/ open reach dispute, if they don’t start engaging soon people will start drifting back to work and I could understand why .chrisj wrote: ↑05 Oct 2022, 18:16I could not agree more! There are no strikes on a Wednesday in October, the strikes are Thursday 13th, Thursday 20th and Tuesday 25thchrisj wrote: ↑05 Oct 2022, 18:16priority102 wrote: ↑05 Oct 2022, 10:55I don't think there IS a master plan - I think the union are bereft of ideas on this one, as never before has a CEO dug their heels in to the depths that Thompson has, and remain in post. Re: The union master plan
Sorry about the mistake of the Wednesdays strike in October that I mentioned but 2 Thursdays in row and the 25th (Tuesday); these are just 1 day strikes that will be easily covered...
What will they achieve?

Rolling strikes should give a new dynamic to striking and cause much more damage than everyone out at the same time. And with Christmas coming it's a matter of who is gonna blink first. Stay strong and stay united.

Re: The union master plan
The way the previous strikes have had seemingly little effect, apart from doubling our workload when we return to work, I wouldn't hold out much hope of rolling strikes bringing RM to it's knee. The problem is customers have got use to mail not being delivered daily and the Tracked packages & parcels are still being delivered fairly promptly.

Re: The union master plan
Very true, seem's like the union have played their ace cards & are hoping Rm bosses fold but as you said they just keep steamrolling ahead with their plans.
If the union could some how pull a miracle & keep that historical agreement where Rm can't replace us or some other legal loophole, then we have some hope. Other than that, it looks pretty much done & dusted.

Re: The union master plan
Becoming increasingly frustrated with Dave Ward and the CWU , all I’ve seen or heard of him this week is discussing the BT strikes , pull your fingers out and engage with the postal workers or this fight is lost .

Re: The union master plan
To be fair to the union they have helped us get great term & conditions in the past. It's just a matter now of them running out of options & it was only a matter of time before this would happen. Can't expect a private company to not squeeze it's employees. Literally every other private company is doing the same thing.

That's the problem. It hasn't. Do as much work the day after the strike as you'd have done the day before.
Stop worrying about the volume of mail. Let it build up, it's not your problem..

Unfortunately people are too engrained in believing they have to give a good service to ‘my customers’ that you see them going overboard every day completing.Hanzey wrote: ↑06 Oct 2022, 10:37That's the problem. I’m reluctant to criticise them, that loyalty is commendable and it’s no doubt helping with their own strike fund. In my office I estimate just 20% work to time.
For me personally it results in arguments when start on time/take breaks/finish on time HTPostman is paired with a ‘must deliver every last clubcard statement’ colleague. It usually ends up with an argument and me suggesting they drop me off near the depot where I’ll walk back and then they can go back out and fill their boots.
The day is gonna come when we’re all gonna have to testify.
