CLOCKING IN/OUT MACHINES GONE ?

Can't see many "management" (incompetent knob-ends that most seem to be) turning a blind eye to potential fraud, somehow.
Many on here seem to totally misunderstand how clocking in systems actually work, and what their purpose is.

It's not just the fraud part, it's the "well if Bob's getting away with it why shouldn't I?" part of human nature.

Within a week one guy would be coming back to the office with 150 ID cards in his pocket.

Whether a manager could be arsed or not doesn't even come into it, managerial self preservation does.. Most offices have at least 3 COMs now, all desperate for one of the others to screw up first.

I still reckon they are going to have to explain what constitutes proper use of these machines as there are plenty of local arrangements that these machines could carve up.

It's simple enough; you clock in at the start of your shift and clock out at the end when you leave work to go home.
No "local arrangements" are going to over-ride any part of that.

I've already said on here we have them in over a year people still come in late go home early an still sign on off sheets an still the same will repeat .

Don't know if they're enabled but the SISO machines used in MCs have got cameras

I'd give it a year tops before RM switch DOs to using the same SISO machines as MCs. Nothing really to stop DO staff from scanning photocopies of the barcodes from other people's ID cards. The RFID method means that someone has to physically be in the building to scan out

PDA's don't need an external power supply , sockets are never where you need them ,cost and PDA's are easily replaceable.

We had a clocking in/out machine at a previous job I had. There was a night shift of 3 guys working in a tool room. They used to take turns to clock each other in/out (in effect having 1 or 2 days "Off" a week).

As it was a Night Shift (with no managers) it was a lot easier to get away with it than say ... A Royal Mail Delivery Office. Guess what? ..... They got away with for a time .... Then they were caught .... and then they were sacked! They same will happen to any idiots that think they can get away with it in this business.

The main thing that concerns me is the Loophole of: "Any previously arranged OT that has been agreed with the Manager will not be effected". Sounds like a charter for Manager's Favourites to continue to take the piss regardlesss of the SISO machine?

Good Question Mate. I have no experience of this ... ALL our Duties return to the DO to clock out. Perhaps you'll have to ask your Manager ... That should strain his brain!

Managers discretion on whether they CAN finish on the street, all depends on a daily basis. A lot of posties in my office chose to finish in the village they work in, if they tell everyone to come back to the office it could cause upset.

Its probably cost effective from both ends to finish in the village accept on a busy day. Let's just say your finishing time was 2 and you finished at 2 in the village, then you don't claim overtime and it only affects the driver. Probably not fair on the driver, but it saves the business paying double the money for both people to come back.

On a quiet day I think you would have to go back to the office.

The following guidelines will apply to the deployment of SISO in Delivery:

• SISO in delivery units will mainly be via a Static PDA. In limited cases and where a Static PDA cannot be
installed, the Walk PDA can be used for the purpose of SISO.
