I am fully behind the CWU, but it doesn't matter how much bravado Dave and Terry shout ("we will win this dispute hands down" etc etc), what you see in RM now is the future - IT WILL NOT CHANGE - FACT. Terms and conditions wise - the only way is DOWN.
You genuinely have only 2 choices now, 1. you spend every working day fighting management, every piece of technology monitoring you etc etc, or 2. you leave this cr@p behind and have a much better quality of life.
Most people at RM (and I include myself in this when I was there) become institutionalised and cannot see outside the box A few years ago this was the case, but post privatisation......no.
I agree with this point. It annoys me when I say to people that I want to leave, and they say “but you don’t know anything else” I’ve done over 30 years so leaving will be a big change for me, but I’ve had enough. Not just of the job but some of the people I work with too.

Nightcrawler, yes it is a big decision, but boy once you've made it and gone you will see the change almost overnight. Whatever doesn't get implemented THIS time round will with no doubt be coming back to the table NEXT time round - it will NOT go away, and even if Thompson is ousted, any new CEO coming in will be wanting to wield the big stick just the same.
