If you are loading-up an LWT with your loop plus his/her loop, extra packets and parcels, plus d2ds, aren’t you defeating the object of using it, by pushing and lugging around far more weight than you were carrying in a bag, over twice the distance because you are doing their loop too?

Using Lwt certainly adds between 10/20 minutes per loops on my duty.

I don't know how many loops you have but say it's 6 at 10mins a loop, that's 1hr that you've saved for the screw, giving scope to add some to the duty

If the LWT isn't used, then that saves 10mins per loop, which is 10mins x the number of loops, the savings the screw is making. That then gives scope for more time to be taken out the office

It adds time, but not significant. Any additional time can be made back by not having to drive round to do some of the parcels which can be taken on loops due to having the LWT.

Given that the duties are timed assuming the trolley is used, then using the trolley doesn't add time. No time at all.
I realise it is pointless posting on this subject. The idea that it adds 10 - 20 minutes per loop is ludicrous, unless you are walking across people's lawns and climbing over walls.
The union in 2010 was trumpeting the end of weight on the shoulder. For the membership it was just business as usual.

If you don't use the trolley, there is no point in standing on a picket line.

As clash says, the loops should have been planned using a LWT so they are not faster or slower with or without.

Too many other variables as well. There was a van share that I did as float where the usual pairing had different days off, so I worked with both of them and drove one day and walked the other. On the first loop I took less time using a LWT when I was the walker, than the duty holder took when I was the driver and he carried the pouch.

Yeah we do have them its just we have no tumble dryer at ours so the bags take a while to dry and its rained non stop for at least 2 weeks now.

we use half our bags 1 day while the others are drying and the other half of duty we put it in sacks and transfer to bags, still a sad situation for us all always struggling to get any decent bags without holes or broken straps,coat leaks,shoes leak ,vans falling apart,the whole company is a sh-- show at the moment ,never known it so bad.

it sure is our trolleys we have were from my managers old office he nicked a few when he became our com.Im sure he nicked boxes of elastic bands because we had run out sad situation.

If I have a bag on my shoulders I can simply walk more or less interrupted on delivery from one address to another. With a lwt trolley l have to constantly leave the pavement, down the kerb go around the car or wheelie bins, back up the kerb go back to post pick up my trolley and so on and so on.
I know that some leave their lwts at the end of avenues or cul de sacs. I don't, intake it to each house. Doing a straight forward terraced st, it's two doors stop, post pick up the lwt two doors stop pick up the trolley. Without it , it is a fluid walk.

Yes, it does. It's roughly an extra 5-10 mins per loop on mine mainly due to walking back down drives where you would normally walk across with a bag on the back.

10 x 6 loops = an extra hour.

Can’t believe people are arguing an lwt does not add time on a duty!
They must be on duties with very wide pavements, drop kerbs every 10ft, no bin days and no parked cars on pavements! These people only seem to apply a situation to themselves and their own duty or they just don’t think! Also the strain from pushing/ pulling an lwt about on your joints! I know then there’s the old argument of bag on shoulder etc etc…. Zzzzzz the bag gets lighter whereas the lwt doesn’t! Lwts/ park and loop worst idea ever! Too many variables means one postie is always waiting for the other!

The rep we had at last revision was well, pointless. The unions input seemed like 'let them balls it up and they'll have to sort it's A+champion report problems? Who to ? A brick wall? The chump was some chap that no one knew and he interacted with no one
