A first class stamp will rise above £1 for the first time in history unless Grant Shapps lets Royal Mail scrap Saturday letter deliveries, the company has warned.

Royal Mail chairman Keith Williams said a “considerable” increase in the cost of a first class stamp would be needed to balance the books if it has to continue with a six-day letter delivery service.

Is it me or does that sound like (excuse the pun) blackmail??

RM only put the price of stamps up 10% last year and then made record profits. These crooks running our company need to be held to account for their financial irregularities because its obvious that by ramping up the price of postage on letters will lead to a decrease in letter traffic.

Why are they not putting up the price of parcels instead??
Or getting rid of some of the COMs??
Or stop giving the managers stupid bonuses?
Or stop relying on agency agency workers??
Or giving away new uniforms to staff that have worked for the business for less than 3 months :hmmmm :hmmmm
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

Shapps has been moved on and replaced with another right wing fruit loop, Kemi Badenoch.
Better than a left wing fruit loop like Corbyn and his mob who would bankrupt the country .

You know Corbyn is history and no longer a Labour MP??
The last General Election was four years ago

Why not throw Michael Foot into the mix?
You do realise that this country is roughly £2,500,000,000,000 in debt at the moment?
That's roughly £1,000,000,000,000 more than when the Tories came to power in 2010.

Our deficit is over 100% of our GDP.
The country is basically starving itself of necessary investment in order to meet its financial obligations, cutting into the meat and muscle because there's no fat left, circling the drain.

What is your definition of "bankrupt"?

It’s weird how everything would apparently have been so much worse under Labour.

The country is in an irreversibly bad state thanks to 12 years of the Tories putting their party before the country.

David Cameron called a referendum not to give people the choice, but because he was so sure he would win, becoming the guy who United the Tories over Europe, that he never stopped to consider that he might lose. He was so arrogant in his belief that no plan was ever conceived for Brexit.

The succession of PMs since have taken from the public purse to enrich their cronies, first using Brexit as a smokescreen, then COVID, now the cost of living crisis. They’ll spend the remaining 15 months tearing the country apart while they get richer, ensuring that Labour inherit a treasury and government on life support, with barely any scope for salvage.

It’s what right-wing politicians have been doing forever.

The Tories inherited a treasury on life life support also , remember the the incident when they took over and the Labour chancellor left a note saying theres no money left .
I do not vote for Labour or the Tories I dislike them equally but I accept democracy and if anyone is to blame it is the people who vote for both of these useless parties .
