I haven't heard anything about getting another hour off the working week. I presume it's on hold while they offer us a crap pay deal. Any details about the SWW in particular?

Re: Royal mail proposal's
Given the proposals include a new 'slave tier' for all new employees, who, amongst other things will be contracted to work 40 hour weeks for a reduced hourly rate of pay, I think we can presume that dear Simon is moving away from the idea of reducing hours.Dorset Plodder wrote: ↑06 Jul 2022, 20:48I haven't heard anything about getting another hour off the working week. The 'ideal' end point of this for the likes of the egregious Simon would be all delivery staff working 40 hours a week, everyone driving, and everyone working 5 days a week over 7 days, including, obviously, Sundays. Because that's 'industry standard'. Oh, and 'annualised hours', or his version of that.
It doesn't mean I think this will happen soon, but it's the natural end point. And RM will want it to happen sooner rather than later because that's how big corporations work.

With a decent wage rise, that would be appealing to a lot more people than you think.Wolf91 wrote: ↑29 Jun 2022, 20:22Yeah, speak for yourself - I know you are but you could do better than that - terriblecheesetoastie wrote: ↑28 Jun 2022, 18:58My proposal is I want Monday - Friday 10am to 5pm and every 4th week include a Saturday and every 5th week I include a Sunday. Why? If they aren't paying you for going over it doesn't matter. You'll just be out longer.

Fair play to Simon and his senior team though. The CWU were adamant that they wanted a 'no strings' pay deal, and so they've come back with a pay deal with a ball and chain attached instead.

Speak for your self, Quite happy with 7am-2pm and no sundays, have a weekend team of new workers for sat/sun parcels.Cucumber wrote: ↑07 Jul 2022, 15:02With a decent wage rise, that would be appealing to a lot more people than you think.Wolf91 wrote: ↑29 Jun 2022, 20:22Yeah, speak for yourself - I know you are but you could do better than that - terriblecheesetoastie wrote: ↑28 Jun 2022, 18:58My proposal is I want Monday - Friday 10am to 5pm and every 4th week include a Saturday and every 5th week I include a Sunday. What will you be doing on Saturday if someone else is doing parcels though?2yearpostie wrote: ↑27 Jul 2022, 07:53Speak for your self, Quite happy with 7am-2pm and no sundays, have a weekend team of new workers for sat/sun parcels.Cucumber wrote: ↑07 Jul 2022, 15:02With a decent wage rise, that would be appealing to a lot more people than you think.Wolf91 wrote: ↑29 Jun 2022, 20:22Yeah, speak for yourself - I know you are but you could do better than that - terriblecheesetoastie wrote: ↑28 Jun 2022, 18:58My proposal is I want Monday - Friday 10am to 5pm and every 4th week include a Saturday and every 5th week I include a Sunday. My original point remains, and I'm not speaking for myself. But with the correct incentives, later starts and SOME unsociable work hours at the weekend would work for many people.

Maybe it would although nobody in my time in Royal Mail has ever said that to me but I think the point is you don't get the choice.later starts and SOME unsociable work hours at the weekend would work for many people.
Like it or lump it seems to be Royal Mail's new mission statement.
