Is there ANYTHING good about this agreement?

I suppose a 6% rise this year is ok-ish.

Everything else looks terrible to me. 4.30 finishes, PDA performance management, getting rid of prep frames, no sick pay, brutal attendance procedure, annualised hours (effectively), 2% rise next year etc etc.

How are the Union going to sell this to us? There must be SOME positives? Anyone...?

you have a 10% pay rise, just some of it is a lump sum - it's that simple.... we have a 10% pay rise!

Norris, a lump sum is not a pay rise. A pay rise increases your salary (and pensionable benefits) and any future pay rises would be an increase on this. A lump sum is just a one off payment into your bank account and is then excluded from any future salary increases going forward.

Ok, I won't use the words 'pay rise' - Instead it's a 10% increase in what you would have got paid in the tax year of 2021/2022.

You mention that if the £500 was part of our salary then it would be pensionable... it's swings and roundabouts as you can also say there is benefits to having a lump sum - paying off debts, splashing out on something, investing.

People are just choosing to ignore the 2% we already had, and choosing to ignore the £500 is another 2% of your pay, and that next year instead of that lump sum you will have a 2% increase in pay. = 10%

The union shouldn’t even be mentioning last years 2% rise , they didn’t negotiate that ,it was imposed by Royal Mail , they are using it as some kind of a win to take the rise to 10% over 3 years.

The vast majority of delivery staff have paid a high sacrifice for those few to keep their allowances

38 years in and I have no allowances. Out of 30 people in my office only one has an allowance for being a PHG previously.
How many get these?

Can mean a lot of money to the lucky few.

This is something they should have bargained on to get us a better deal , I thought they represented everyone, not just a minority on historical perks ,

There are a lot of posties in major city centre locations that would have been effected by the removal of the area rating allowance - and I suspect many of those are Union members too.

I do note however… the 6% and 2% increases DO NOT flow through to that particular allowance.

Maybe the PEC should publish what historical allowances they get.
