That makes no sense.
People with 2 years and 1 days service were entitled to apply for ~£8000 in VR....that doesn't mean they would be happy to leave for £0 CR. That would be ridiculous logic.
That makes no sense.
There is no deal to be done. Thompson is just trolling us. Tanking the shares for this billionaire to buy.parforthewalk wrote: ↑05 Dec 2022, 08:59I Think the VR offer was just a data gathering exercise for seeing the numbers of who wants to go. The company wants/needs a reduction in the USO. Once it eventually achieves this I honestly think they won't be offering VR, only compulsory redundancy. As they will want to resize the company with maximum effect at a minimum cost. Remember there is no more money. I also honestly think there is no deal to be had, Thompson & board are playing everyone, us, the union & the public.
People have expressed an interest in voluntary redundancy, not compulsory redundancy . There's a big difference. I think expressing an interest in the former, would hardly be a fair way to sack people using the latter. I still think any redundancies will be done in the least costly way, to the business, whatever that looks like. I don't think it includes people who qualify for the maximum.sindba wrote: ↑05 Dec 2022, 17:38Well they need to show they've done CR in a fair way.Halfhappy wrote: ↑05 Dec 2022, 17:15Based on?CRIBMAD wrote: ↑05 Dec 2022, 17:14cr is one weeks pay for every years service in other words JACK s**t ! i bet all the ones that asked for vr (me included) get made cr !parforthewalk wrote: ↑05 Dec 2022, 17:09My understanding is that VR & CR have significantly different payouts, being that CR you get considerably less. I think (please check for your own piece of mind) that's it's approx 9weeks worth of pay rather than VR offer which was 9 months payout with xtra 6k if applied via peeps app before 27th Nov'
If you've expressed an interest in redundancy, they could argue it's fair to make you redundant first.

Of course it's not fair. But no complusory redundancies are. It's about how you do it in the fairest way.Halfhappy wrote: ↑05 Dec 2022, 18:42People have expressed an interest in voluntary redundancy, not compulsory redundancy . There's a big difference. I could see their point if there was some advantage to RM making people who've applied, for voluntary redundancy, compulsory redundant. I wouldn't particularly agree with it, but I'd perhaps understand it. However, I can't see why RM would push for that. They'll want to do this in the cheapest way possible, and that'll most likely involve age and service.sindba wrote: ↑05 Dec 2022, 19:11Of course it's not fair. But no complusory redundancies are. But if RM can get away with arguing that volunteering for redundancy is a fair criteria for compulsory redundancy selection, then they probably will.
And you could see their point.
The advantage would be that it's an easy way to avoid potential unfair dismissal claims.Halfhappy wrote: ↑05 Dec 2022, 19:31

No. I only know they are looking to lose 15 walks when revision is done by making the others bigger.
