Not everyone will agree but they are only words at the moment.
Remain calm and carry on RM are getting more and more desperate as today's announcement shows.
I think that getting these proposals through are not quite as easy as RM make out.
Time will tell.
I think more or less the same.

It’s all designed to scare people into not striking believing that these changes will happen anyway.

We know they won’t get all of these changes and we know our job won’t be how it is now.

I just wish all the silliness would just end and the back and forth threats.

Lots of what is proposed isn’t workable and definitely not in a short space of time.

P+O got away with breaking the law so maybe RM think what the hell, what's the worst that can happen :thumbup
Completely different situation.
It may well be, however the attitude of management toward the workforce is the same
Doesn’t matter , the law does.
It didn't with P+O

P+O didn't have 120k union members. Also P+O got away with it based on the legal side of where they trade from.

Is 'serving notice' the same as taking Executive action, because I thought they were doing that anyway. Whatever it's pure and simple this is our last chance to make a stand and stand strong...once they chip away at the Union and make it impotent...we're up that sorry creek with a toothpick for a paddle.

Basically the industrial action gave RM the right to serve notice on elements of the agreement, so they have done it because the strikes mean that they are allowed to.
The linking of Industrial action to the ability to break agreements is a red herring the business is using to try to shift the blame.

The first point is most of the proposed changes are not even protected by the legally binding agreement they're just bog standard collective agreements which have no legal protection anyway.

The second point is that to be honest the legal protections were not really worth the paper they were written on because they always had the caveat of financial unsustainability, something easy for the business to manufacture and difficult for the union to disprove.

Good luck running your new royal mail with 120.000 pissed off workers who hate the company and will do the minimum quiet quitting on a huge scale.

I'm not naturally sympathetic but being on the Royal Mail sales force must be a thankless job.
It'd obviously be easier if there was harmonious industrial relations - whose fault is it that there is not?

Got a bad feeling the union are going to agree to cancell all strike action . Until the mediation has taken place, Which will take a few months. Probably be complete in the new year. Meanwhile Royal mail will still be going ahead with there changes. Because they are loosing a million pounds a day. ;liar The unions hands will be tied . i really hope they have not been out smarted once again

Anthony Bouch

Just when I thought I’d seen and heard more complete nonsense from the businesses communications and propaganda.
Quote from todays message….. ‘we cannot continue to have the CWU wield its veto as it has done for the past decade’
2013 - Agenda for Growth - RM/CWU national agreement
2016 - RM/CWU National Agreement on standalone one year pay award.
2018 - Guiding Principles Agreement (Four Pillars Agreement - RM/CWU national agreement.
2021 - Pathway To Change Agreement - RM/CWU Agreement.
Not sure therefore how FOUR national agreements in a decade is wielding any veto whatsoever

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

The CWU clearly!

They think they can control the operations of a PLC or dictate what the company can do or not do to progress. The Union has been acting above its station and stuck in the days when royal mail was a public service.

The should have worked more on the changes and try to mitigate against the worst parts of the changes or ask for more protection for their vulnerable members. No condition can be permanent in industrial relations or for any industry.

The CWU can never stop royal mail driving itself forward - even if we think they are wrong on some of the aspects of whether some of us will be significantly worse off...

This was always more than money - it was a power struggle! And we are the cannon fodder!

A lot more us deep down knows that some of our members are dragging the company and ourselves down! The generous sickness/attendance procedure is seriously abused - we all know! The productivity of some is not up to scratch.

I work sometimes in processing and sone should not even be in the job - some are shot and others are just very very lazy and stuck in their ways.

As for the outdated allowances - RM even wanted to buy them out but CWU will not hear of it.

What change did the CWU agree to because their response to royal mail changes were negative in all aspects

Too much politics, silly positioning and conspiracy theories!

Time for change with the CWU. Those two at the top need to go!

RM have been underhand, yet very clever here.
Offering the CWU an 'out' via acas.
