That’s why everyone must be prepared to strike. If we lose this we become just another amazon, hermes, etc.

Norfolk - thought you'd gone full Rumsfeld there LOL. You've previously posted on a variety of topics on these boards and it's obvious
you have experience in various industries, so I' sure you know about unions if not specifically about the CWU.
All it takes is a few clicks and you can join CWU on line. Some people in our office are really worried about striking
but what I've told them is that a vote for IA doesn't mean that we will definitely strike - it's a tool that can be used
to negotiate by showing the depth of feeling on the shop floor. Even Terry has said everyone should vote whether
it's a yes or no.

We haven't got a rep in our office but by using info from these boards, subscribing to union LTB's via email and having a
working knowledge of H&S we as an office have managed to push back on various things that managers have tried
to do, referring to our area rep if we need to. It's not the union and us, we are the union.

Indeed yellowbelly, ive been a member of the EEPTU, AMICUS and the EMA in my time. Also had long period of being on a collective bargaining scheme for non-unionised staff who had an employee elected representative. So not as green as my post made me sound....lol

I guess I kind of expected to be approached at the local level, a sales pitch if you like. But ive had nothing and no one seems to mention the union much where i am. Ill follow the link kindly posted above and sort it out today.
