I don’t donate any money to a political party. You would have to be completely dense to give hard earned money to a bunch of liars….timbo1234 wrote: ↑23 Feb 2023, 17:22Yes exactly as I said - the Tory party. Then, as the top brass each took the oath to tell the truth yesterday - and said that NO particular type of mail is prioritised, you have a DUTY to report the manager concerned immediately. After all, it is YOU - yes - YOU, leaving the mail behind - not the manager......and it is the manager concerned failing to follow what are legal USO as well as company procedures, whilst banking a huge salary for doing so.dazzler123 wrote: ↑23 Feb 2023, 17:20we were told even today taking parcels on the lapse isnt a debate, do it. leave the mail, take the parcels
We are also scanning all our own tracked at the frame before delivery
Think about it - will your manager stick up for you if the office is given an unannounced visit? Of course they won't, when asked who should be delivering that particular bit it will be your name given!
Thompson mentioned Speak Up.......so do it!

You state the changes don't bother you? All of RMs proposed changes haven't been fully rolled out yet!
You also state that you don't have to listen to strike talk, but will you be listening when the union finally reaches an agreement to yours & unionised employees benefit?
Workload is fine, i don’t mind working to my time or even going slightly over. When it interferes with my own personal life I will consider looking at other jobs.
And I don’t listen to the union. I just go to work. If it wasn’t for the union I would have had a 7% pay rise months ago. But you voted against it.
Would it depend on what time you started on the day? i.e Manager requests that you attend from 6am.
I say this because there is credible information that new starters have to be available from 6am until 10pm.
It is fair to say RM will want this type of attendance scope from all employees in the not too distant future.
Can you please clarify the 7% pay rise, to include the terms & conditions that were required to attain it?
Also what attracted you to the job at RM in the first place?
I can't image it was anything relating to either pay or terms & conditions that the union had negotiated with the employer? (that you currently reap the benefits from!)
Presumably at the time of your RM job application, if a competitor was advertising a job for zero hours, less pay, less holiday & less sick pay entitlement & no unionised workforce, you would jumped at the their offer?
Perhaps they could have also included & guaranteed 'we can make you happy'?

I start early atm, if the manager said he needed me 10-6 then that would be as late as I’m willing to go. I’d stay until a more suitable job came along.parforthewalk wrote: ↑23 Feb 2023, 19:28FB thank you for your reply.FilthyBloke wrote: ↑23 Feb 2023, 08:36Unworkable for me would be be forced to work later than 7pm.parforthewalk wrote: ↑23 Feb 2023, 08:32How would you define unworkable? As for new starters, if it suits them, fine. If not they need not apply?
7% and the terms didn’t bother me. Again if the terms got so bad I would leave but I still think it would be a good job with the proposal. Not a walk in the park like it was when I first started many moons ago but still a good job.
What appealed to the job at the beginning for me was a.) working on my own and b.) the hours and flexibility of them.
I didn’t like the union from the word go. Things I witnessed and saw (which I will share if you are genuinely interested) and the fact that, unlike other jobs I had had that had a union, this CWU seemed to want to fill people with dread from the beginning. Screaming down any slight change. Even now, the same poster has been on the wall for years “The storm is coming!” Like something you would get outside a church. It’s a Them Vs Us attitude. I don’t think it’s particularly healthy.
My other half used to work with the nhs and she said the union there were something you only ever used if you felt bullied or something serious happened. In my offices the union get involved in every little decision and it becomes toxic.
That’s why I’m in it for myself. I’ll earn money for as long as Royal Mail offer it and for as long as it’s ideal for me.
For an example in one of my old jobs I worked 6pm - 2am, now sometimes at 1am there would be nothing to do so the manager would ask us to go out and sweep the yard. And we did. We didn’t moan. We had an hour left. Why not?
At my office now if the manager asks someone to take a tray or missort downstairs they say “not my job!”.
Too many postman in my office are entitled whingebags who think it’s still job and knock and are so used to getting home at noon that the idea of working a full shift is slave labour to them.
I get some walks and offices in general may not be like this. Some may struggle to complete etc but I can only go on what I see. I see the picketeers who are fighting for terms and conditions and I think “all you have done is abused them.”

So rude Darren the solicitor MP on his first term of office wants Simon to say it is company policy to prioritise parcels over letters... Thereby justifying that the company is failing the USO and it is dysfunctional and needed to be sanctioned with giving the employees a 10% pay rise with no change to working patterns and to employ as many people as possible to cover sometimes 8% absence with no change in productivity and/or bring royal mail back into public ownership?
I don't get his game except that he is making a name for himself and stuck right up the Union's backside...
There is nowhere you will find that it is official company policy to prioritise parcels over letter. Premium products being given a priority is not quite the same thing, because ordinary parcels too are left sometimes.
He said something like it was an abuse of English to say that operational (paraphrase) circumstances sometimes dictate that letters will be left as opposed to parcels... What is wrong with that?
High levels of absence will come into the same operational reality not just strikes and Pandemic - Ricky did not explain that fully but kept on about strikes and recovery and Pandemic. No one wants to be doubling up on parcels for the next day (if the next day is quieter).

What don’t you understand about deliberately making rounds too big to complete, failing to fill vacancies, giving out redundancies and then when the workers left say they are unable to complete their unmanageable workloads, tell them to make sure they do the parcels and if leaving anything in or bringing anything back make sure it’s mailchrisj wrote: ↑24 Feb 2023, 11:04So rude Darren the solicitor MP on his first term of office wants Simon to say it is company policy to prioritise parcels over letters... That’s nothing to do with Covid and nothing to do with industrial action
It’s a manufactured failure of the USO
If you tolerate this, then your paid break will be next

Is chrisj even a postman.... I've been one for nearly 29 years and everything you said is utter b#ll.
Somebody calling out 3 leach like criminals who are doing everything in there power to make the jobs impossible and you say how dare he.....?
This morning I was told that 600 extra drops per park and loop pair is being demanded from the top of the company and my com's words were we are being set up to fail!
That in itself is an outright breach of the USO.
I said to him you will be getting a tape message shortly saying not to prioritise packets and it will probably self destruct 5 seconds later like all the ones the rogue managers followed previously

If you worked as a postie you'd realise that around 90% of our parcels are now tracked, the scan to deliver route really now highlighting the split between tracked and non tracked.chrisj wrote: ↑24 Feb 2023, 11:04So rude Darren the solicitor MP on his first term of office wants Simon to say it is company policy to prioritise parcels over letters... It's pretty obvious the business is not concentrating on tracked so it that can just clear the offices on H&S grounds, as if we where then we'd be told to deliver all the parcels over a certain size not just all the tracked, which can even just be a small envelope.
