There's been nothing to be impressed about, but plenty to think "WTF?"
The UK deserves a lot better, just as Labour promised in the run-up, but that soon went to rat-sh*t.
So not one positive whatsoever?

Have you been impressed by anything that Labour have done since coming to power?
Sure, making Stalin look like an amateur :Very Happy
Can you expand on what you mean? I know youre joking but for me the gag doesnt work, considering Starmer is not particularly left wing in his politics.

Where would you target to raise the £££?

Tax the rich more, especially those who have hoarded their wealth in property and have £10 million or more. Wealth inequality simply drives asset prices up and that means that more working people cannot afford to buy a house. We do not live in a meritocracy. People from extremely wealthy families, like the Duke of Westminster, can inherit billions of pounds and pay nothing so I would suggest that very rich people should be paying their fair share of tax instead of all the tax burden landing on ordinary working people
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

It's a pity the Tories created so many loopholes for rich people to avoid paying taxes in this country over the last 40 odd years then

Has nothing to do with being right, left or centrist.

Stalin killed millions if his own people so it is a ridiculous comparison.

Withdrawing a fuel payment, which is only paid if temperatures dip below a certain level, from pension aged people who don’t need it, is good sense.

The same people who are complaining about this, are quite happy to withdraw financial aid from young people.

Those with £10million or more in the bank make it difficult for the twenty-somethings to buy an ordinary terraced house? I haven't noticed any ermine-clothed dukes or Bentley-driving industrialists moving in down my road yet.
Even odder is that some on here see nothing wrong with a nominally Socialist gov't hitting the most vulnerable in society first.
Still, all those posties retiring with a small company pension and the state pension will be well over the threshold to claim the Winter Fuel Allowance, so clearly they're wealthy and undeserving too.

Its more the second (third/fourth etc) home buying that pushes prices up i would imagine.

Also am i not correct in saying that the whole winter fuel thing has been blown out of proportion (shock horror) by the Mail et al? When you look at the details, and consider that those who truly need it will still receive the money?

Im not saying i agree with Labours decision to do it, but if we’re being totally honest its not as bad as is being portrayed.

While the mrs is watching Strictly  I'll reply. What I will say is this, since the turn of the century, UK house prices have quadrupled, yet the average salary has only doubled. House prices have become more unaffordable to ordinary working people and you don't need to be an economist to realise that wealthy people buying up expensive properties will push the housing market up in general particularly when there is also a shortage of accommodation as well.
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

I agree and you wouldn't ever see someone like Rushi Sunak agreeing with anything like a wealth tax...But it is part of the problem imho

Buy-to-let landlords, more single person households and the ever-increasing population push up demand and so increase prices.
Lord Ponsonby-Bigbucks isn't buying up terraces or even off-plan developments or pushing up demand.
As for the whole sorry saga somehow being driven by the Mail, let's see what happens if there's a cold snap in the coming Winter. That ought to refocus Starmer's tiny mind when A&E's and hospital start filling up even more than they currently are due to cold housing and hypothermia.
