Re: An update on the crucial negotiations with Royal Mail Group.
CEO Stuart Simpson has delivered a message regarding our continuing talks with CWU.
Press playOpens in a new window for an update.
'I know everyone wants us to reach resolution,' said Stuart. 'But it has to be the right deal. A deal that secures and underpins the future of this incredible business.
'It needs to cover three key areas:
The strategy and future direction of Royal Mail
Operational change, and
Pay and job security
'We're not there yet. But I genuinely believe we are close. I really hope we will have an agreement soon.
'It's clear that both sides want an agreement that works for Royal Mail, its people and our wider stakeholders. Over the coming days, we'll continue intensive talks. I hope to be able to give you further information soon.'

I never used to hear train drivers criticising Bob Crow for how much he got paid.
The issue is the competence of the person doing the job not how much they are getting paid.
To use an analogy, if the striker of the football team you support is earning 100k a week but scoring you 30 goals a season you probably don’t begrudge him the money. If he’s earning 60k a week and couldn’t hit a cows backside with a banjo you probably think he is stealing a living .
You can form your own opinions if Terry is more Radamel Falcao or Sergio Aguero.

Disappointing to see that pay, which wasn't part of the dispute so should have been a stand alone issue is now going to be tied in to operational change and the future direction of the business.
Members weren't given the opportunity to vote on the 6% over 3 years pay offer made earlier in the year which was a stand alone deal. I would certainly have voted to accept that deal.
This one, with all sorts of strings attached, must be an absolute corker of a pay offer, to try to persuade members to vote for an otherwise unpalatable deal.

Weren't there 'strings' attached to the sww couple of years ago......look how that turned out. It's like saying work your backside off and if you work more than 48 hrs, we'll reward you with......less per hr .......oh no hold on, they already do that.Schiff wrote: ↑04 Dec 2020, 21:31Disappointing to see that pay, which wasn't part of the dispute so should have been a stand alone issue is now going to be tied in to operational change and the future direction of the business.

Do both sides still want to see the backdated pay in our pockets before xmas?
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

This has been going on since July, in over 30 years I’ve never known such a union or such elongated “talks”.
