Has the ballot result quietly expired?
The problem is the managers deal was a two year deal the second year of which has just been paid. I suspect if it was negotiated now it would have been nowhere near the same. A lot has changed in six months. Wasn’t there a pay deal offered before CV19 that the CWU didn’t feel was appropriate to give members the vote?noggin1969 wrote:And now it has lapsed the talks have run into the sand. If the business refused to honour a pay deal that had already been agreed that would have been the beginning of the end for every future agreement.

Terry also said he wouldn't urge a reballot now given COVID and everything, as it would be a public image disaster.
So basically, unless something drastic happens and COVID goes away, that's it.

We need a consistent response on the eradication of our terms and conditions not a mealy mouth response on Facebook this is not a media campaign for a seat in the house of commons but a fight for our terms conditions. The right not to be bullied at work not to be subjected to endless lapsing/absorbsion and how we deal with the future of us all!

And Terry and Co have also said that during Christmas pressure periods when the workers had rm's backs up against a wall with their pants around their ankles and rm still came up smelling of roses and the workers got shafted with deals of the century bollock$.xPandabear1992x wrote:Terry also said he wouldn't urge a reballot now given COVID and everything, as it would be a public image disaster.
Tub thumping to the members and acting all Jeremy "I'll sit on a fence" Corbyn style when up against the company. They need to grow a pair and properly decide if they are a union or a bloody political party in the waiting with a social media public face image to uphold.
A hell of a lot of jobs at risk if they mess it up this time with another deal of the century.

Time to demand no confidence and have an election on all their posts and get them out ,Dave ,Terry and the hangers on all need to do the right thing and resign,if they carry on much longer i urge everyone to stop their membership ,as i see it you are getting no value for your money.

It's really not.guardianangel wrote:Time to demand no confidence and have an election on all their posts and get them out l.... .
Much as I agree that the present dispute which to be honest has rumbled on for three years right through the last agreement has been woefully mishandled it is unfortunately not the time to start again from scratch.
What our members need right now is as much guaranteed job security as possible, that might mean some of the egos in the room have to be parked or even removed but the union has to stop looking for a "win" just to look good.
This is by far the weakest we've ever been in a negotiation period and the union had better start managing expectations with that in mind rather than talking round in circles on Facebook.
If we get out of this with a no score draw it will be a point gained
rather than two points dropped.

I don’t agree when Terry says it’s not the right time to have another ballot. This can’t go on for much longer before we take action. Stick this years pay rise which there is no sign of on the ballot paper while your at it.

The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

I get the impression that our union leadership somehow genuinely believed that the Socialist Revolutionary Party would actually win the last election. They would then nationalise Royal Mail within a couple of days, grant all employees an immediate 10% pay rise, reintroduce the old pension scheme along with outdated working practices and they (the very highly paid union leaders) could claim all of the credit.Woody Guthrie wrote: What our members need right now is as much guaranteed job security as possible, that might mean some of the egos in the room have to be parked or even removed but the union has to stop looking for a "win" just to look good.

When that cunning plan surprisingly failed to produce results they didn't have a clue what to do next - and still don't.
Time to step into the real world, fight for jobs for those who want them (although those jobs will involve different ways of working), a decent exit package for those who don't want to stay with RM and collaborate with RM in introducing the changes needed to make RM competetive so that they will continue to employ members in 10 years time.
Stop playing politics and get on with representing the membership.
