Recorded devliry reference number - finding delivery address

Post by matwag89 »

Hi,

I am trying to return an item bought on ebay. I need to show that I sent the item back and just tracking number isn't enough, so is there any way I can get royal mail to give me the tracking number and the delivery address on one piece of paper?

I know they can find the delivery address from the reference number.

Thanks.

I believe certain managers can, and maybe some managers in Customer service. Even some PHG roles as well, but it's not something ordinary grunts like us have access too, or the ordinary customer service operators either.

It depends how you are posting it. In most cases it is not possible to get the address information from a recorded barcode number. If you post it at a post office the receipt should have the barcode number and address on it.

this makes no sense.
You returned the item to the seller?
has the tracking updated as delivered?

surely a proof of posting certificate would suffice?

not to prove a return for eBay purposes
however the OP needs to confirm what the issue is, as what they are posting/proposing makes no sense

I'm a bit late to this but...

I guess that the issue is that matwag just has the tracking number at the present? I can tell you that the internal Intranet version of Track & Trace does show some of the address (at least, it does if you got the full counter service in a Post Office, not Speedbulk or whatever). The number is put in to the intranet site, a page comes up telling you 'delivered on xx in yy', then you click on Audit Trail and scroll down. At the bottom of the page is the list of whenever it was scanned or whatever in reverse chronological order. The entry at the very bottom should have part of the delivery address on it, often just post code and building name or number.

This is not available to the general public. You will probably need to get a very reluctant DOM or Crown Office Branch Manager to retrieve the data for you and print it. 'cos we aren't really supposed to do that stuff.
