Incomplete address
Hello Everyone,
Sent a package via Royal Mail Special delivery and i have been tracking it to find the address is incomplete and its been returned to the post office to be returned to sender (me).
One customer services representative said nothing i can do and one said It is kept for 3 days which is standard procedure and the person i sent it too can collect it with two forms of ID and the tracking number. I was also told the post office is closed till 7:45 am tomorrow by which it can collected as hasn't left yet..
some clarity please?

Re: Incomplete address
Depends if it's already been returned to sender or not. Some offices would return these right away, others would do a wee bit of digging to see if they could find the address (maybe if the person is known to the postie and gets a lot of parcels). If it's still in the delivery office (rather than post office), then the recipient may be able to collect it with the tracking number and ID. You may find it's already being sent back to you if this is what the tracking says.

Re: Incomplete address
Address incomplete should be returned to you immediately via the SD system, the 3 day thing is if the address is inaccessible-wee attempt delivery 3 times (once a day) and if still no access then it will be returned. I doubt the person can just turn up and collect the item from the DO unless they have the P739 (while you where out card).

No its true for the scenario DGP pointed out, but is wrong in your particular circumstances - Human error that's all nothing else.wallerz wrote:So when the lady said its standard to keep it a few days before sending... thats not true...

Re: Incomplete address
We would hold incomplete address Special deliveries for a few days to see if anyone could identify the correct address or to see if anyone turned up looking for it.
It wouldn't immediately be returned to sender.

Re: Incomplete address
We were unable to deliver item (Tracking number) on the 26/10/11 12:12 as it was not possible to identify the delivery address. The item will be returned to MARYHILL to be returned to sender.

Re: Incomplete address
From that they may have sent it onto the Mail Centre, the first step in returning it to you. Check again first thing AM and if it says something along the lines of "progressing through the system" it means its going through the network, and if your return address is displayed then hopefully you'll get it tomorrow.wallerz wrote:We were unable to deliver item (Tracking number) on the 26/10/11 12:12 as it was not possible to identify the delivery address. Re: Incomplete address
0141 9465409 Found that telephone number on a quick google search, gotta love the way RM don't put numbers on web. Maybe give them a call in the morning if you don't hear back. On second thoughts, aren't most delivery offices open late on a Wednesday? Maybe try and give them a call now, they might be able to clarify :)
