Whooo Hooo move to our newest forum.
I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

The night shift at my mc is one of the strangest of all - people talking on mobile phones at 3:30 in the morning - who the hell too?
casual staff going for break and coming back from break when they feel like it. while the full timers have to tell their line manager when they are going to the toilet and are grilled if they take more than the regulated 10 mins, and you are dicing with death if you come back from a break late.
one boss says you can go - even thou you still have 2 minutes left till you finish your shift, only to be greeted at the exit door by another boss who is blocking the way out and says you can't go its too early
, the two bosses then have a shouting match across the office floor on the merits of giving the staff a two minute dart. The list of these instances is endless.

Ah the old "Tinplated dicators with delusions of god hood" syndrome, glad to see it's not just here that it happens at....We've got it similar on my shift, differing sections being let go before time and the one I work in being kept until time...The the other sections moan if you make a minute before they do...The favoritism is what bugs me though.

I just transfered to another MC but at my old one, we'd have three managers watching 15 people sort mail. Of course, they usually left 15 minutes early and we were gone a minute after that.
Still, it was fun watching them have these intricate pissing matches over transfering two people from one section to another in the middle of a shift, neither manager wanting to give up an inch of authority:
"I need her on divisions.... NOW! NOW! NOW! NOW!"
"No! We're swamped here! DROWNING!"
"That's impossible! And what about that york you took and never gave back!?"
It was beautiful. If they were fighting the Battle of Britain, they couldn't have been more self-important.

Tommo your right about it being only loonys that keep you going. Most of ours are manager's. Mind you we have one postey has to take every letter he sorts back out again to make sure he's put it in the right hole. he's still throwing his walk out around midday. he gets the walk done about 4pm and books overtime everyday. come to think of it perhaps he's not so daft after all. It's funny how time's change , years ago one of the night sorters used to bring his pet monkey into work and now we have monkeys running the f***ing place!!!!!
