Time off in lieu at Christmas?

Post by demoralisedofessex »

Don't know if anyone can shed any light on this, but my hubby is a Postman and has been told that because his rest day falls on Christmas day, he's not entitled to a day off in lieu.
I thought that this couldn't be so, but checking the union thread it appears that this is correct :cry
Does this apply to counters, too? - It's my day off as well, so wondering if we're being shafted too.

Thanks!

Would you guys have a different agreement to us to fund this?

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

I am scheduled day off Xmas Day, and New Years Day. Checked my Annual Leave Card yesterday, and the little cherubs have already credited me with two days.

There was a Joint Statement on it for Counters, but don't know about Royal Mail. As I understand it, this cannot be taken as Overtime, and is an agreement outwith COSA.
