That’s the number Tony Bouch stated at the most recent gathering - he will only have been referring to non-drivers in delivery.Perseus wrote: ↑01 Mar 2026, 15:44I heard the number was a fair bit higher than that, perhaps that was incorrect. Anything else over complicates things and is the reason no solution has been found.
I'd appreciate your thoughts on what will transpire rather than what won't.

If it's only 1000 then it's pretty much a non issue, yes we know there'll be little point having them in on a Saturday so perhaps offices will have to have a mon-fri section and it's tough s**t if anyone thinks it's unfair, how about offering the mon-fri duties constant walking on various different duties all with multiple days mail to anyone, I know for a fact in our office all the 'bobs' on their piss easy rurals will moan about not getting every sat off when others might do but they sure as s**t won't choose to move onto those duties.Barnacle wrote: ↑01 Mar 2026, 15:46That’s the number Tony Bouch stated at the most recent gathering - he will only have been referring to non-drivers in delivery.Perseus wrote: ↑01 Mar 2026, 15:44I heard the number was a fair bit higher than that, perhaps that was incorrect. That's a hell of a tumble in less than a year.

2024 they said the number was 4000 odd I think that had no license at all and 8000 odd that do but dont drive for RM as not contracted to
The number will be lower now due but I wouldnt imagine its as low as 1000

The question being asked is what % of employees actually have a driving licence and have decided for whatever reason not to drive for Royal Mail

My response was to your last line ''Even those that do not, nothing stopping them from applying for a driving licence''

Re: NON - DRIVER ( ARE OUR DAYS NUMBERED )
I wasn't really thinking of professional footballers, more the kid that gets picked last in the playground.
But just as a matter of interest I googled Stuart Pearce and 6 a side. I only found one reference.
He played alongside that well known postman Neil Webb in a Nottingham Forest side who lost in the final of the Soccer Sixes to Charlton.
Peter Shirtliff scored the winning goal.
(I think that was the last time Charlton won anything. Postman might be able to confirm?)
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.
