Last week the last section was completed and it's been the biggest cock up I've ever seen.
Not one postie was asked anything about their walks and the planners on their laptops now expect you to drive down no entry roads and walk thro peoples houses and gardens to get to the road behind their property.
Over the weekend the whole office layout was revised to a horseshoe type layout that's been yet another cock up.
Three of the five sections simply do not have the space to work and are falling over themselves.
My old section had 8 out of 17 posties not on duty due to holiday, day off and sickness.
The covering line manager did not know my SPL duty had been removed and I now start at 13.30 on DPR duty not 08.30
Nice enough guy that was left with 35 before 1pm specials, 24 box collections and 32 customer collections to cover !!!
We are now back to endless trays of mail sat at frames, frames full of mail and tons of non tracked.
So in 3 months I've seen my DO go from clearing 99% of mail / small packets and 100% of tracked for the last 2 years back to the shitshow it was when I came back as an ex postie (left in 1996) as an agency worker to help out over Christmas 3 years ago.
I'm only 3 years away from retirement and it does break my heart to see what has happened to RM since I first joined 33 years ago.
We are no longer "Community Posties" with pride in our job but over worked Amazon robots being micro managed down to minutes by mostly failed posties who moved into management.
New starters are fed a lie that they walk around with a handful of letters chatting to customers. When the reality that they have one loop with 2 pouches each of 16kg of mail plus 22 packets it suddenly becomes a hard graft job they can't handle, hense why so many don't even last a month.
And the new contracts basically state RM can make you work Monday to Sunday starting from 6am to 10pm as they see fit.
