Re: Joint working parties
If you vote no surely you will need the union to protect you in the brave new world.
Voting no and leaving the union seems to be the height of madness.

If only they could have 'protected' us, and our terms and conditions.clashcityrocker wrote: ↑05 May 2023, 18:13If you vote no surely you will need the union to protect you in the brave new world.

If this deal gets ratified, you will have a weaker union, with fewer members, even easier to ignore next time around.
Good luck when seeking their 'protection' under that climate.
Even if I had years left in this awful job, working for this God damned company, I wouldn't want to give Ward another damn penny, he's not worth the money he's getting.

I am with you clash on this one, voting No and leaving is going down a dangerous route.clashcityrocker wrote: ↑05 May 2023, 18:13If you vote no surely you will need the union to protect you in the brave new world.

If you arent happy with the current leadership, vote them out at the next election.
Now if the yes vote goes through it might not matter if you are in a union or not as they will have lost all power in the workplace. Thats the thing i dont understand, we can all see it but they are prepared to sell out to keep a place at RMs table of crumbs, and lets face it thats all they are offering.

Re: Joint working parties
The only protection you really need once our Union takes on the company rhetoric, is legal protections that you may need to fight for you in a possible tribunal, or other legal requirements. So leaving the CWU does not mean giving up those benefits. I believe The GMB union for example will take on anyone, as far as industry sector is concerned.

Of course they couldn't protect our terms and conditions.DirtyHarry wrote: ↑05 May 2023, 18:43

We are a privately owned company with civil service terms and conditions.
The direction of travel was clear when they removed our final salary pension. Years ago.
If you didn't understand that then I don't know what you were thinking.
Simple question. Did you accept your "free" shares?
Didn't you understand the cost that came with them?

Re: Joint working parties
Exactly, the horse bolted years ago. What can they achieve now ? It's too late the game is up. Going on strike in August when Christmas strikes didn't work , what's the point ? Basically if you don't like the job best to leave. But most posties know it'll be very difficult to find better pay for skill level , basically a parcel job and pizza leaflet drops. Most will continue for the next 10/ 20 years and moan like hell how crap the job is.clashcityrocker wrote: ↑05 May 2023, 19:14Of course they couldn't protect our terms and conditions.DirtyHarry wrote: ↑05 May 2023, 18:43

I did accept the free shares, yes. It was a done deal, one I didn't vote for, but the majority did, and yes, I knew the membership had shot themselves in both feet, on that occassion.clashcityrocker wrote: ↑05 May 2023, 19:14Of course they couldn't protect our terms and conditions.DirtyHarry wrote: ↑05 May 2023, 18:43

But, I didn't take it to mean, that's it, the bastards can do whatever they like now, I'll just roll over and let them tickle my belly from now on.
Simple question. Did you?

Re: Joint working parties
No. I have never taken 1 share or 1 penny in dividends.
That is where our pay rise has gone. That is where our pension has gone.
300 of us out of 120 000.
That is when we were sold out. And you were all complicit in it because you only saw the pound signs. Kerching!
God does it make me laugh when I read about people on here going on about the greedy shareholders.
What they actually mean is they don't like greedier shareholders.
And it has been a rearguard action ever since.

If every single Royal Mail employee had rejected the free shares it would not have made one iota of difference. Royal Mail would still have been privatised and we would still find ourselves in the position we are now. It was a political decision made by the government of the day. We had absolutely no say in it.

You love praise, to be praised, to be one, and at the same time, not really one, at all.
Ok, I'm game.
From now on, I will shower you with the praise you craze.
You're fantastic, you are.
I wish we could all be like you, (sniggers) Clash!

Correct = it would have made no difference but what a message for 120 000 workers to send.Zicomurphy wrote: ↑06 May 2023, 07:19

We do not believe privatisation will be good for us and we do not believe it will be good for the public service we provide.
We will not take part in the charade that is the "free" share allocation.
Those were my principles.
What were the principles of those that accepted the shares?

Re: Joint working parties
Joint working parties? Bollocks, will more likely be just RM dictating to the CWU what they're going to do
