Not many/any, Pete, unless I happen to be on leave or I swap it for a special occasion— but that is purely my choice. Like the other new entrants at my place, I have been given have the option of having rolling days off, with a three-day weekend every so often (every six weeks, I think?), but I don’t like the way that there are six working days between days off (it rolls forward so rest day one week will be Mon-Tues, then next week Tues-Weds etc), so after a short spell on the new rota (just a fortnight) me and a couple of others asked to go back on our fixed days off, ie, working every Sat and Sunday. Little perks like the one I’ve alluded to (banking time on Saturday and then using it as TOIL on Sunday) make it worthwhile. It also suits management to have a permanent Sunday crew.
Yeah, I think a lot of posties would probably struggle with the idea of working every weekend, especially those with young families or other commitments. For most people I've worked with the idea of never having a weekend off unless it's booked as leave doesn't really feel like much of a perk.
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.
The update is on the cwu website, basically it only works if you ship staff in from another office, use agency or overtime to clear the excess, how about putting duties back in.

25% of duties come out as soon as you start the ODM.
Then are gradually back filled by the sounds of things? I guess if it finishes with a 10/15 % reduction in staff numbers DK will be content?
It's 25% of paired duties, rurals town centre and firms aren't included.
That depends on what a rural actually is in future as most of our rurals are being classified as town duties even though you need a van to carry them out. I'd imagine rurals with be a low % once the ODM is complete, assuming they don't eventually follow the ODM models in a year or so

I think you're meant to rotate every day.
But they’ve brought this rotation in with no regard of it only being suitable for those that can drive? Seems crazy.

Because they knew if they gave non drivers every Saturday off then everyone would come off driving.

That video was depressing. I liked the Scottish guy though. He was the only one that said it’s a shambles. The rest of it seemed like they’re fudging the trials with an infinite combination of possibilities to placate the workforce. “What about non drivers…oh that’s a problem but we’re working on that”. “What about fatigue…er yeah that’s an issue so we would like to just do core 3 days”. None of these solutions contribute to quality of service or cutting costs. RM are just hoping it will all fall into place. Like they’ve always done. Except this time it’s likely to be catastrophic for the business as customers will just walk away. The one common theme is that RMs idea of the USO change doesn’t work AT ALL.
It’s now a case of the union trying to tweak it to make it work. They should throw it out completely and tell RM to come up with something more sensible. You can’t take a bad idea and reverse engineer it to make it a good one. Ultimately the changes were supposed to save money. That’s the last thing that’s happening. They’re just obsessed that staff are stealing minutes from them so they want to keep everyone working flat out.
The cynic in me can’t help feeling they’re just paying lip service to the union while they wait for the offcom report. Once they get the green light, every office will launch these changes immediately regardless of what the union say. They’ll get around “the agreement” by saying the changes are not USO related. They’ll change the name to something more catchy and say it’s to safeguard the business and jobs. I hope the union are anticipating all the possible options and don’t get caught out and members just get told “just work your hours”. Over the years we’ve had unofficial revisions and changes in our office. The union have come in, assured us “that’s not happening” only for it to be rolled out and members left to fight for themselves.
