In the original odm model before dm26 it was meant to set every individual town duty to 500 calls. Don't think it was mentioned at all in dm26.
It actually made sense to do that.
Since that hasn't been done. Out first week just past where we started dm26 has been a complete failure.
With a finishing time of 4pm the van shares weren't getting back until 5pm. On the Wednesday it would have been 6pm if indoor staff didn't help do parcels.
For 1 there isn't time saved.
Any time saved on the light side is consumed by the heavy side. Before I only took 1/6th d2d's. Was simple and fast to tie up. The new model requires all d2d's in the frame and with double slots means lots of cold calling.
Picking d2d's out the frame is time consuming which eats away at any time they think u save.
Then with duties already about 15-20mins too big to begin with Ur getting an insane amount of calls.
Then there's the parcels. Could barely fit 2 duties in before. Now we have to come back to the office fi pick up the last side which by that time feels like Ur picking up a third duty. Usually at about 3:30pm. So more time wasted traveling back to the office.
The add-on thirds takes double the time u may have for it.
So the whole system doesn't work.
Tried to tell the manager. Was told because its the first week it's just teething problems 🤷‍♂️.

No idea who's prepped the D2D for next week. It's either the Sunday crew or agency. Option C: they aren't.
For those of you playing at home, they were not prepped.
If thats the case the CWU should have said no go. The unaddressed mail is no different to any other traffic and their should be a plan for dealing with it.

The gold standard is getting everyone out on time or early if possible.

There is no standard for DM26. The workload between duties is significant and unfair.

Our rurals are clearing nicely every single day. Their workload has actually gone down due to 50/50 and the additional bits they're picking up aren't adding much time on. A lot of the newer employees have been put on these easy duties, maybe because they're part time and haven't had an opportunity to go full time. Of course, the manager's favourites continue to get special treatment.

The van shares are a very different beast. One of ours was really bad before DM26, but now with lapsing and 4 additional bags, it's failing spectacularly. It doesn't help that the non-driver is lazy either and nothing is being done about it.

DM26 was a rushed job due to RM activating the Dispute Resolution Process after the impasse over the ODM. Naturally many of the standard things that were proposed within the ODM will now have been watered down or forgotten about just to get it started. ODM being 2 days mail but a few members of staff had to rotate 2-3 times a week - was it really that bad? - now you have most of the staff all falling over each other grabbing bits from 4 frames in total with deliveries up at 6 hours in some places.

Correct. Do not make this s**t show work with OT. They've had it restricted or banned or year so they could now spend it and make this s**t show work. If you aren't desperate don't do it.

Don't go rushing round a van full is easily enough to take you to 4pm don't come back for seconds, lot's of 50/50 will be crawling around, make sure you are having your full allocated breaks, if that was me the those last sides would be staying put.

Ok thanks, so you think its based on nothing? So its exactly the same as we are doing now, only with three staff? I thought there must be more to it, with something you could actually measure your performance against.
The pod system will only work if it’s set out properly. The single person does 2/3 of two walks one side heavy and one light. The two people do theirs plus one third of the other two (heavy and light also)
Now in the agreement they all should get help from the 50/50 walks but that doesn’t always seem to be the case.
Also no two people work the same or at the same speed.
It’s going to cause tension to say the least.
We’ve already asked for help from a 50/50, not a chance as they’re too busy. Of course you are, easiest duties in the office.
50/50 are not the easiest duties in the office. I have done both. The pod I was in was much easier than the 50/50 duty I'm on now. I get hammered with packets for flats, and at least three of my streets are long, with loads of steps leading up to each front door.

If a 50/50 duty that was previously clearing pre DM26 isn't helping out in other ways, it stands to reason that they will be amongst the easiest gigs going. Especially now that we are all working longer days to allow for the 'better' shift patterns.
This seems to be one of the most common observations with DM26.

On a 50/50 round you are taking parcels from a singular frame, you have 1 frame of parcels to worry about, if you are a driver under a pod you are taking oversized parcels and packets from 4 frames, I don't know what pod you entered but the imbalance is massive to most.

I can sort of handle the hard work, just work till your time ect, but the toxicity of the office and the ineptitude of management is a different matter.

Ours has turned the office arse about tit. It's the rurals struggling because of the distances they have to cover. It's difficult for them to complete, then drives miles to do a third of tracked and first class miles away. My pod is okay to be fair. We're getting out earlier, and our days are 30 minutes longer. Nobody wants to be working later, but the days off are decent (said as I've just knocked off til Monday :wave ) I work with decent people, though. I'm the singleton as the other lads were already paired. We've changed it around a bit and I clear all of one frame, and a third of the tracked and packets off the other duty. We all agreed it's stupid them covering another area when I'm happy to do the walking. We don't get any support as we said we don't need it, and the lady down to help genuinely does struggle on her rural. It's alrite, upto now.

Bringing back 50-60 tracked per day as well as a massive loop and a half worth of mail. It's the same for most duties in our office. When will the penny drop?
