In the CWU brief it stated that the pilot offices would have excess staff, hence the enhanced VR terms in those pilot offices
But it also suggests VR won't commence until OFCOM approves the changes, which won't be until at least the summer, so what do the surplus staff do in the meantime? It suggests using annual leave but who wants to risk using that then the changes being delayed or changed and you've up all your leave in the first half of the year?
There aren’t going to be A frames and B frames. Each delivery office has a related MC. The MC will send out the mail to be delivered each day.
It is incumbent upon managers to find work for all staff, including non-drivers, during the pilot.
If it is a roaring success, the pilot offices will have an obvious to the eye excess of staff. VR will then be offered.
But this is not a great thing because it would be the beginning of a process of shedding 1000s of staff.
I'm wondering If there's an excess of staff what are they going to do to that doesn't create a false impression that the trials are a roaring success, they'd have to wash the vans or sweep the yard or something that wasn't anybody else's work or it wouldn't be a true picture
I always remember the trial of "try 2 neighbours before docketting". RM found it added "no extra time to delivery". Which is physically impossible.
What would save time is not having to docket at all. Hopefully Kretinsky comes up with a better way of doing things. Writing out dockets and 2nd and 3rd attempts are a waste of time. Parcel lockers will help a little bit, especially if people choose to have the first attempt to a locker.
From what I've seen of the proposals it's hardly a radical or drastic reform of the USO.
I would have thought any reduction in the workforce as a result of it could easily be achieved through natural wastage and a recruitment freeze without the need for mass VR.
Wow! Talk about setting yourselves up for a fall!
Why come up with any ideas for how this USO change is implemented, are you lot mad, do you think nobody in RM management read these posts.
Feck me things are bad enough within this company without this.
There are people in RM who get paid a lot of money to figure this s**t out, and i think we have already established that RM's opinion of us and what we are worth, lazy, overpaid and under worked, don't give them ideas for free, not because they are bad ideas, but because the half-wit's who are paid a lot of money would still manage to not get it right and as usual that would be our fault.
Let's just all calm down and wait and see what magnificent idea comes our way, don't be surprised if it's some sort of hybrid of everything already mentioned. And don't be surprised if it's impossible as well!
They do seem to be Delivery Offices located in Mail Centres.
The W Delivery Office based in Mount Pleasant Mail Centre is included. So I wouldn't think this would extend to the MC processing staff.

It’s just the way the list is showing, it is delivery offices and the feeder MC to that delivery office. If you can expand the list it will show this.
’You can't just ask customers what they want and then try to give that to them. By the time you get it built, they'll want something new.’
How can they trail this if it’s not been agreed yet by the regulator?
Or has it and I’ve missed the information.
I thought there were still discussions on if it would be Mail Drop on Saturday or alternate days for second class.
With this alternating full clearance nonsense won't it mean 3 days mail on a Tuesday if the walk was last cleared on the Friday? The walks at my office are so big many of them are not achievable with one day of mail so unless they're fixing that this new system will not work.

Oh there you go, pointing out the obvious flaw in the plan.
