Is it any wonder, most of us don't want to work for this massively shitty company anymore?
It’s as if they are purposefully ruining a job we all quite enjoyed, in order to make us leave.
They're almost there.
Nobody in their right mind would want to stay with this verminous company, if they didn't have to.
You do all realise in the real world that overtime is compulsory in most companies if they require it, its not an unusual or unreasonable request in 2023.
It may not be unusual, but it’s a damning indictment of the current state of the world that anybody would deem it reasonable. If overtime is required, then it’s not overtime. It’s time in which companies have failed to source adequate labour.

I don't care. I work for Royal Mail, and I have never signed up to coerced overtime, so management can screw themselves.

Just pointing out that the working practices in RM are stuck at 1978,I dont know if youve worked anywhere else in the last 5 years, but its how 90% of modern companies work.

It might not be unusual but I think it is unreasonable to expect or force someone to work outside their normal hours if they dont want to, not sure what 2023 has to do with it. And yes I do realise that some peoples jobs dont allow for them to stop at 3pm and go home. Ours does(at the moment) :Very Happy and yes I know some of you finish a bit later, before anyone has a dig :thumbup

They must have a s**t union to allow the workforce to be treated that way. As far as i knew if it was compulsory overtime it also had to be guaranteed overtime so that it worked both ways, but then again what do i know.

How many different jobs have you had in the last 5 years? Must be quite a few to have come to your 90% of modern companies conclusion.

Maybe it's time for the employer to get real :evil/mad

I’ve worked for 4 different companies in the last 12 years. It’s not how they work at all. Pretty much the opposite,
by enlarge. I’ve been at RM over 5 years now, and have never seen or been with a company that treats its staff with such contempt.
The only thing old fashioned is Royal Mail’s attitude to its workforce. Almost Victorian, I would say. Quite old fashioned indeed.

Where have you been hiding recently 2year? Not seen you around here in a while.
There are other shills that are beating the Royal Mail propaganda drum in your absence though, don’t worry.

I vaguely recall some of the older blokes saying that when I started in the 80s, however it was a much easier job in delivery and a lot of people did 60/70 hour weeks :Very Happy

It probably was virtually all letters back then. Parcels probably only become a larger chunk of the workload when firms started opening shops online
