If too many people suddenly stop doing OT, extend, work to rule etc, whether organised by the CWU or not it could potentially be construed by RM as being unofficial industrial action
If individuals decided not to do OT there’s very little the company could do, it’s another matter if the call not to do it came from anyone associated with the CWU.

Anyway heard today that the company have put a briefing out to managers that from tomorrow any form of OT is not allowed . Will find out in the morning if that’s true, last time they did this it lasted less than 24 hours and took the office a week (and lots of OT) to catch up.

As long as they're not crossing the picket lines then so be it. Times are hard.

I will not be doing overtime to cover lack of strike pay. But i have no kids, or responsibilities so I can muck on through.

Maybe you should take the time to understand your colleagues rather than coming onto RMC and whinging about them.

I can guarantee you wouldn't have the same attitude with them in person.

Those same individuals are the ones who come in early and work through there breaks then they do overtime.and that's on a normal day.during strikes you have the upper hand do as little as possible for more hourly overtime.dont clear all the office the very next day back to work that's just playing into there hands mangers are laughing at you

Your not going to please everyone on this topic as views are divided.
But until the union ballots for a work your hours and only your hours they are not breaking the rules the union has put out and for many it could be the difference of being able to strike and not.
The are worst culprits out there people working there breaks, starting before there time working on all for nothing.

Can only assume people who dislike those who do overtime (or grabbers as they like to call them) are envious that some are earning more than them. It’s not only during strikes, certain colleagues despise someone earning extra full stop! End of the day it’s not stolen money, people work extra and get paid extra. Everyone’s lifestyle is different. Some like sitting at home and scrimping, some like their luxuries and building a future. Some simply have more mouths to feed than others. No one should judge other workers lives and circumstances. Grow up!

Common sense dictates that during an industrial dispute, workers don't bend over backwards helping their employer to get on with the business of f***ing them over.

That means, working just your contracted hours.
No going over. No overtime. Nothing that helps out Thompson and the whole Royal Mail shitshow we have to suffer under.

We shouldn't need to be balloted.
Unbelievable.
Dirty Harry is spot on as if the backlog is cleared a day or two after, the company haven’t suffered financially in fact they have saved money and if everyone did what DH is saying imagine the impact the industrial action would have. However, we haven’t been balloted on action short of strike so it cannot be coordinated by the union as that would be unlawful but I didn’t need to be asked to do my contractual obligations only it was just natural to me being a basic trade unionist in a dispute with my employer.

Listen it's been said by many on here that even CWU union reps are working their day off on days different to the strike. Not just local or office reps by the way, but regional reps who have alot of clout compared to the unit or divisional reps or whatever you want to call them. Now if these guys are doing it then surely that tells you overtime haters that nothing wrong is being done. The ones on here constantly complaining about it are the ones who have bitchy nicknames for it as stated above, ie, "Grabbers or Docket Fiends", which proves how these people view anyone who does any overtime. These same people have mentioned or complained about people doing overtime in other thread's well above the strikes by the way so shows they aren't solely worried about how it's not helping the action. It boils down to jealousy and pettiness just!!!!

Well now we may have some happy campers here. At least now the bitching can stop. I can tell you it hasn't stopped elsewhere. There's why the job is what it is. There's not consistency and thus it becomes toxic due to jealousy

I can see why you're called Murdoch.
If that's a reference to Rupert Murdoch, then no.

I was making a basic rational argument. You we're taking your own opinion on what you consider to be "right" and attempting to force that on others, which is more akin to what Rupert Murdoch's media does.

I’ve worked my day off every week for around 3 years and I do overtime just about everyday

I’ve lost a days pay plus my overtime for that day every time we strike

I’ve been getting less overtime since the agency staff started (before the strike)

I’m earning less money now due to the strikes which I fully support and stand on the picket line every time

What I’m saying is I’m actually losing more than people that don’t do regular overtime so I’m doing more than my bit

I’ve lost more money than most and I show my support every week and you choose to thank people like me by labelling them a hypocrite WTF!!!!

I thought this level of idiocracy was only reserved for the top levels of this great company

Just wait till tomorrow, I wouldn't be surprised if 95%+ of all walks around the country end up cutting off tomorrow. Don't know if they done any sequencing yesterday but if they didn't then I reckon it'll be 2-3, maybe 4 boxes sequence for most walks, provided that there's not been any massive bulk postings over the last couple of days

I’ve been working my day off to break even, I can’t afford to take 2 days off in the week…personally I need to work my day off if my day off doesn’t fall on a strike day, I don’t see the point of sitting at home when I’ve already had a day off for the strike day, but obviously not everyone can work their day off because we would be overstaffed, But there are some colleagues maybe who can afford to take their day off and their strike day or they just don’t think outside the box and think…If I work my day off I will break even at least and not lose a days pay because of the strike day…anyway each to their own I guess.
