What will happen to posties like me who went down to part time , i do a Monday to Wendesday for 4 weeks then the next 4 weeks i do Thursday to Saturday. Asked the union rep and he said i maybe doing a 11 hour day twice a week, but i think he has not really got a clue and is just guessing .

I'd say he definitely hasn't a clue and if he thinks an 11 hour day on delivery is a viable option then he shouldn't really be guessing either

Depends on how many hours you do. 18 hours a week is normally set over 3 days but 24hrs is 4 days and 30 hours they can get you in over 5 days. If it's 3 full time days you do then realistically they could spread that over 4 part time days.

I'd hazard a guess he's on 22 hours

In that case he can just do a 22 hour day and that's it for the week. 6 rest days and one day of work. :Very Happy

That’s quite an attractive shift when you put it like that 😂

what’s wrong with 11 hour days? loads of people work 11-12 hour days. 4-5 hours inside a break and 6-7 hours out.

Why can't the CWU push for every postie to agree a new way of working with Royal Mail in terms of flexibility, with each postie agreeing the set hours they want to work, with flexibility built in.

I'd happily go from the 5 day week I am currently working (no overtime) to a 3 or 4 day week but with an agreement to do up to an hour worth of overtime on my own round during those 3 or 4 days if it is needed.

I feel this would be beneficial to both Royal Mail and posties. Much more flexibility to allow duties to be completed with posties working less days.

610- 1730 yeah why not? it’s couple hours ips OT in morning then going 45mins over on delivery isn’t unheard of.

When are you starting your delivery on these hours?
If you tolerate this, then your paid break will be next

There definitely needs to be more flexibility if they bring this new method in, seemed to be a bit more of it during Covid. Will there be? Time will tell…

You'd just be working your hours. If you go from 5 days to 4 days and don't buy down your hours, you have a days hours from a 5 day week split between 4 days, which will be an hour and whatever per day
