Is anyone really happy in Royal Mail?

Compared to other jobs I've endured, it's by no means the worst thing out there. It's still s**t, but not quite as s**t as office or retail work

My partner does my head in, he always waves at Royal Mail lorry drivers when they pass while we are on delivery, I asked him today “Do you actually know him?” No “well why are you waving at him”

As much as I posted about how unhappy I am here, the thought crossed my mind today.

He/she might be a stranger.

But we should always say hello to a stranger.

Keeps our hearts warm.

What better reason than if they're wearing the same clothes.

As much as I posted about how unhappy I am here, the thought crossed my mind today.

It’s one of the nicest things about the job. From the first day you are being waved at and tooted at by fellow posties.

I suppose it's a way of attracting attention, like someone constantly resurrecting nonsensical threads that are 10 or more years old - if you see my point two loops.......

If only we could go back in time. I'm fairly certain I was far happier working in 2007 than I am now. We had easier duties, we weren't being clock-watched, we started and finished earlier and we could go back home when we finished instead of having to drive back to the office. Oddly enough, as a company we were even profitable. The biggest turning point in this company was privatisation.

All of the above; but if you dig through some of these old threads you find that some places didn't have job & finish, didn't have workable duties, and were being surveilled by management as much as possible for the era. This forum wouldn't exist otherwise. That wasn't my experience which is why I didn't sign up until our P&L revision (I wish so very much that everything since then would be reverted).

Pretty much the only positive left is being outdoors rather than stuck in an office, though the later times will turn even lovely Summer days into their own nightmare.

Little thing called camaraderie. Sometimes a simple wave and acknowledgement is enough to boost someone's spirits.
