No.
We turned up at work. (I think the red warning had been upgraded from amber overnight.)
They had a conference call and sent us home.
None of the options you mentioned were ever discussed.

If the business wants their employee to take a day's holiday when there's disruption then they must give them at least 2 days notice. If not, then it should be classed as additional unpaid (special) leave.

As an employee it is your responsibility to get to work even in extreme weather conditions. If the office is closed then it will be unpaid leave. But if the office is open and you turn up and the manager says that you can't work safely on your normal duty then you should be asked to cover other work to make up the time. If there is no other work available then employees may be allowed to go home early and there will be no requirement to make up the time.

At a time when people have been put under financial pressure due to the overtime cull. Hmmmm.

Iam in northern ireland I expect to be working tomorrow.
Amazon have been told its to dangerous and are off all schools are closed due yo expected 100 mph winds couldn't make it up not a word of storm from local management or union.

Northern Ireland as well, been told to stay at home as it's too dangerous. No complaints here.

Turn up for work. If they send you home, then I don't think they can penalise you. Gives you an idea of higher up management and the stupid decisions they make.

Royal mail’s own policy on adverse weather says if your office is closed you will not be required to make up the time no mention of unpaid leave.
