Should’ve happened 10 years ago , letters have been declining whether you want to admit it or not .
You'd think no office would be failing mail every week then right?

The number of people processing and delivering the mail has reduced at the same rate if not proportionally a higher rate.

If RM cant get the mail delivered as it stands everyday over six days what chance do they have getting it all delivered over five?
Something something innovative new indoor and outdoor methods waffle waffle working closely with our delivery partners to maximise the customer and employee experience.

Or in other words, bench merging and walk faster.
The day is gonna come when we’re all gonna have to testify.

Lanark DO has requested from com and CWU to quit their trial on delivery methods
It doesn’t work

A 5 day USO agreement from the other government would mean a 20% reduction in staff, Saturday would be tracked, specials & LAT'S either on O/T (less than normal rate!) or agency.

And they would still fail walks during the other 5 days.

I agree its just cost cutting there's people on here clap for the 5 day letter week not realising they could easily be let go.

That would be nice qwerty but RM I think would over complicate and spread the work force over 6-7 days were a flexible team now remember.

They are deliberately failing deliveries in order to hurry up this process, I’m not saying it will improve the service necessarily but there’s no doubt dropping letters to 5 days would improve their profitability which the union should use to improve our t&cs.

26 walks didn't go out the other day, we are already way short of staff, going to 5 days would help address the balance.

So is there too much mail for the number of us employed to deliver it or not enough?

I think everybody is reading far too much into this 5 day USO, at the moment RM couldn't care less about it, all they want is parcels, parcels and more parcels.
If they could get rid of letters completely..... now that's what really interests them.
As it is the 6 day USO is failing everyday and that suits them fine, so don't expect any great changes if the 5 day appears, as has already been said i would expect some seriously innovative shift patterns and a complete disaster on the work/life front for us.
Apparently a CEO said we hate sitting in the house watching those amazon drivers out working to 10pm.
Yeah right.

People are leaving the business in their droves , we are short staffed, that’s not going to happen.

They aren't bothered about short staffed infact it saves them a ton of money as long as the tracked get done £££.

But there's zero chance of that ever happening

Well considering the union are hand in hand with Royal Mail on this matter and helping them to lobby government and ofcom , you’d think they’d be demanding some guarantees on our behalf but I won’t hold my breath.
