When do you fuel up your van

This may sound like a stupid question. And some of you may say when it’s nearly empty

I usually fill up every week on the easy days and I don’t wana get back to the office too early lol. (Tuesday on a normal week) (Wednesday on a bank holiday week)
So I can keep on top of the game

I don’t have an easy day, not ever managed to complete the delivery am currently on.

Monday is the relatively easy day... Tuesdays are now just a normal day because of the start and finish time; in my office at least.

Tuesdays has actually always been a fairly normal - work to time day - but many people come in so early (back in the day) that Tuesday appears easy. FT used to start on Tuesday at 7.30 but most people will be in after 6am because the rest of the week is an earlier start or because some of the older Posties used to start work around 6am, and now cannot stay in bed or at home.

Space Phoenix, wherever you park your van overnight in the yard now will remain the same.

The charging points will be installed so that you can plug the van in. Maybe only 14 of 20 will need a charge up overnight and you can therefore rotate the vans accordingly.

Staff parking their own cars in a charging bay is not an ideal situation.

oh the luxury we have 17 vans and 3 parking spaces lol

Almost every day someone is sent out with a 9am special and are blocked in by 10+ vans. I’ve made the point to management why not have a dedicated ‘this is the 9am Special Delivery van that goes right next to the gate, do not park it anywhere else, do not block it in or you’ll be conducted’ space but it falls on deaf ears. Most mornings the poor volunteer has to spend half an hour faffing around moving vans to get his 9am van.

As ever, shockingly poor management.

I’ve been in that situation at the reg locker:

‘I’m blocked in by 10 vans, can I take the van next to the gate?’
‘No that’s Martin’s, you know he comes in an hour early to finish early’
‘What time is he heading out?
‘9am. Mind you, you’ve only got two 9am Specials haven’t you so you should be back in time?’
‘Nope. (Rogue) manager has asked me to do these 10 tracked as well from that round down there that’s not going out’
‘Well there is a van but the steering is knackered, so you’ll need to carefully take it to the garage and swap it with another van.’
‘What times the garage open today?’
‘9am’

Although I’m past caring (the more messing about the less I have to do) the lack of organisation and forward planning every single day is shambolic.

People have their ‘own’ vans, by the time management have noticed at 8.30 they have 9am specials they realise giving you someone else’s van delays that person getting out. And the best thing, seniority plays a part too, up to last year the most senior driver had the best van without a trimble. Fking ridiculous.

I used to complain, try and make a stand. Now I just do whatever I’m told, use whatever van I’m given (as long as it’s roadworthy) and work my hours nothing more. The only complaining I do is on here!

It's like a lot of things in RM, plenty of other areas not just the 9am sd's that are the issue, it's piss poor management like HTPostmans management and certain colleagues stuck in a delusion that the do revolves around them that make a relatively straightforward job just that much harder.
