I thought I had the Christmas bonus in the bag, with a final pay date of 18th Dec 2020.
However my final day was 11th Dec and I had my p45 dated for 11th Dec.
I spoke to Royal Mail HR today and they confirmed, despite receiving my P45 (11/12/20) I will still be getting my ad hoc payment for my scheduled attendence holiday pay and that I did not need to worry about getting my P45 adjusted as despite my P45 being for week 36, my pay slip for week 37 (18/12/2020) would show my assessible pay for this tax year including week 37 and the tax paid to date,
However because my final day was 11/12/2020, despite me receving an ad hoc payment on the 18/12/20 which I thought would include the Christmas bonus, I will not be classed as in service in the 18/12/20 which is the trigger date for the Christmas bonus.
So that's £140 net less I will be getting, however I have worked out by the end of the tax year, I will be due a tax rebate of £151.
So I should be £11 up on the deal.
So that goes to prove not all the best laid plans come home!
If any of you plan to retire around Christmas next year, make it no earlier than the trigger date for the Christmas bonus.
But I have also learned from this, that despite being issued a P45, Royal Mail can continue to make payments of monies owed.
Ie if there is back pay from a pay deal, I might have a tiny bit coming my way.

They still owe me 5 hours but over two weeks later still no sign! Phoned HR and they had not record of it. Phoned DOM who originally told me about it and he said he would investigate and phone back Saturday. Still waiting!! Seems once your out the door they couldn't care less!
