A POSTIE was recently left speechless by kind-hearted Duloch residents who lined their street in a surprise show of affection for their own local hero.

Sandy Scott thought Duloch Spider-Man was making his way to Kingfisher Place when he saw familiar faces from the cul-de-sac outside their homes.

It soon became clear that they were waiting for Sandy, not Spidey.

The 61-year-old had made his way to the street for around 4pm on Saturday 11 and stopped to have a chat with a man he's known for years as a result of his deliveries to the address.

Speaking to the Press, a delighted Sandy revealed what happened next: "I was chatting to him with his wife and kid and suddenly he said, 'Sandy, we've got you a present'.

"I walked around the corner and I then saw the street and there were all these people standing looking towards me.

"I thought they were all waiting for Duloch Spider-Man to come racing through!

"One of the residents then gave me this big card and a gift which they all pitched in for.

"I was speechless.

"The card was like a book filled with comments from the whole road and I really appreciated it.

"They put a lot of thought into it as well as the card (which featured Postman Pat and his van) had a custom sticker on it saying 'Postman Sandy' with the van's registration as 'Sandy 1'.

"They were really generous."

Sandy's been a postman for six years and he was humbled to be recognised by the Kingfisher Place residents (homes 47-71) for his efforts during the pandemic, adding that he felt like a "superstar".

He commented: "We've been rushed off of our feet as a result of the coronavirus.

"People have either been furloughed or they're having to work from home, so it means people have been buying more online and that's meant more deliveries to make.

"It really was great to read everyone's comments and to receive the card and gift from them.

"I just want to say thank you again. It's very appreciated."
