Sorry if this has been asked already, I can't find it on the search function and Capita helpline just rings and rings.
So I've got my paperwork for NR60 pension in Sept, it asks what other pensions I've invested as total Lifetime allowance is circa £1m before paying extra tax. I'm nowhere near that, and even when I get my NHS pension in 6 1/2 years later, doubt I will be. However, My wife passed away about 10 years ago and I receive a widowers pension of circa £3k pa From Teachers Pension Authority (?). Does this need to be declared on the RM pension forms and does it count towards lifetime allowance given I never paid into it?

Surviving partner pensions do not form part of either the deceased's or the recipient's Lifetime Allowance (LTA).

For LTA purposes, the value of a DB pension is worked out by multiplying the income you expect to get by 20, plus any lump sum and any AVC's, etc.nicechap wrote:Sorry if this has been asked already, I can't find it on the search function and Capita helpline just rings and rings.

For a DC pension, just use the value of the pot.
As the current LTA is £1,037,100, it's quite easy to work out that you'll need a pension income of over £50k to be over the limit.
Most people won't be!
Your widowers pension doesn't count towards your LTA, and even if it did, it would only equate to about 6% of it.
The state pension isn't included either.

That's wonderful, very helpful replies.
As an aside I'm not planning on taking my nhs pension early, even if I leave nhs as the reduction is too great.
