Parcel stuck at Manchester MC for over a week.

Post by DanTheCustomer »

Hello everyone, thanks for taking your time to read this.

I sent a parcel on the 23rd of March to Leeds, unfortunately the customer did not give me the correct address.

It was returning to a business address and when the person who was to deliver my parcel back came, the office was not open. There is no letter box for anyone to leave a red card saying that we were missed etc so they sent it back to the Rochdale DO, it then went back to Manchester MC on the 30th, it’s quite confusing because it’s duplicated some of the audit trail.

I can appreciate with the virus going on that you are doing your best, I am just concerned now, a lady flat out just said put in a claim, I’ve done that now but really I just want the parcel back to send to the customer, there’s a £400 device in there.

I spoke to one of the people at Royal Mail business and they said that the likelihood is that it’s going to the NRC and that when it is scanned there they will get a note pop up saying to send it back to my house address instead of the business office but it’ll just take longer due to the virus etc.

I feel like it should have got to the NRC by now, but do parcels really just go missing? This parcel is slightly bigger than a shoebox. It’d be hard to miss, we never usually have issues with Royal Mail Track ever and we use them everyday for I’m not sure how many years. I would be really gutted if this has just vanished into thin air.

The tracking number is: JG633215748GB

Any sort of help/hope would be really appreciated.

If your return address is on the parcel then it should be sent straight back to you. It only needs to go to the NRC if this is missing. Hopefully the return address is present, or a "£400 device" is likely to be in breach of the Dangerous Goods law.

I don't normally do this, but I am going to flat out speculate.

The number of flights have dropped significantly. This will be reducing Royal Mail's capacity between Manchester and Belfast, where the NRC is located. The regulator measures RM on the performance of certain types of mail, but that doesn't include returns. So if I was in charge of Manchester mail centre, I would be putting the returns to the back of the queue...
