LTB 190/2018 - Royal Mail Property & Facilities Solutions - Pensions

No. 190/2018

4 April 2018

TO: All Branches with Members in RMPFS

Dear Colleague

RMPFS Pensions

Members of the Royal Mail Pension Plan who work in RMPFS have recently received a pension booklet explaining the changes to Royal Mail Pensions following the pay and 4 Pillars Agreement reached with CWU.

In response to enquiries from members, the Union is issuing the following guidance:

All current members of the RMPP will start building up benefits in the transitional defined benefits cash balanced scheme (DBCBS) from 1st April 2018. This will happen automatically. No action is required by members.

Members only need to complete and return the form if they wish to cease defined benefits pension contributions. It is important that people are aware that if they do so as things currently stand they will not be eligible for membership of the new collective defined contribution scheme in the future.

The Union is seeking to extend the CDC scheme to all RMPFS employees but at the moment the business has not given the Union a commitment to do so. Therefore, if members wish to retain defined benefit pension arrangements they should take no action and they will be transferred into the transitional defined benefit cash benefit scheme and can be certain that they will be eligible for the CDC scheme when it is introduced.
