ill health retirement

Post by pebbles8 »

hello sadly 12 months ago i had to leave royal mail after 32 years with ill health retirement with lump sum. my illnesses were anxiety depression and O C D. At the time i retired my G.P said he could not provide me with a letter to say i would be incapable of any work for the next 10 years this would possibly have enabled me to take ill health retirement with pension. sadly a year on despite intensive treatment both private and NHS I am no better and my doctor now believes i will always suffer with anxiety and OCD and now will provide me with the letter. does anyone know if i can appeal the decision many thanks i am currently 50 years old

Also on the subject of ill health retirement. Is it possible to pay the full amount into an AVC i.e. the IHR amount and the PILON.

Thanks
