Angard and night shift?

Post by wamdue »

So ive just finished night shift as a Christmas Casual, and good news most of my group are going to come in for 3 days next week, so talk is turning to the longer term, and Angard.

Obviously we are all aware Angard is a bit rubbish, but how are they with night shift. on the one hand, if they give me any trouble I can just say, no more and go straight back to DHL, which was always my plan, but night shift puts you out of sync with the world, and makes it hard to have days where you dont go in, as you can only do so much with such a messed up body clock.

So lets say I was offered a night shift contract, are Angard any better at letting those on the night shift know what they will be doing during the week?

Right now im really just thinking of any extra days, as a delay going back to DHL in the New Year, so for me it would not be a massive deal, if it didnt happen.

you dont get nightshift contracts via angaard
as a angaard employee you are expected to work any shift offered but you can say your preference is nightshift work and they will try to offer you shifts when and if any become available , but your in same boat as your fellow angaard workers you have to wait on texts or phone calls from them .and during jan.feb.march there isnt alot of work to go around sometimes 1 nightshift a week sometimes 1 a fortnight such is the zero hour contract which is what angaard workers are on also depends how many angaard workers there is at your perticular mail centre who are also fighting for the shifts

i have worked for over 3 years with angaard as it suits me as my wifes the main bread winner and i know how little work is on offer after the busy xmas mad rush ,so its hard to expect more than 2 shifts per week during the quiet months as we are there only as cover for the perm royal mail staff who take there holiday entitlements ,,tho we hope it will change but it hasnt as yet ,,good luck in whatever decision you make wamdue

dont bother with angard from jan 2017 till may 2017 i had about 12 shifts in total ,then due to accident had 3 weeks of sick but higher rate still active . came back from sick no shifts , no work for over 6 weeks so security run out need to be re vetted despite the fact have worked for over 5 years on zero hour contract , and because you are re vetted you start on minimum rate again , so about 40% pay cut , and as you have to do 12 weeks to get back on the higher rate the way they where last year would be very doubtful if any one makes it to the higher rate now , if you already got a job stick with that , if you rely on angard you will end up in serious debt . how bad are angard well in the last 3 years my end of year p60 keeps dropping due to lack of shifts from 2014 about 9k to this year just over £1600 great company to work for NOT
