A delivery driver is facing a trial after pleading not guilty to causing the death of a 72-year-old Suffolk cyclist by careless driving.

DHL driver Mark Tuffs, of Alibon Road, Dagenham, entered his plea to the charge at a plea and trial preparation hearing at Ipswich Crown Court this morning.

Tuffs, 51, was charged with causing the death of Colin Taylor following an accident on the B1115 at Luckeys Corner, Hitcham, near Bildeston, on November 29 last year.

Mr Taylor, of Hitcham, died at the scene of the collision after allegedly being struck by a white DAF LF rigid lorry early in the afternoon.

The retired council worker was cycling along Finborough Road in Hitcham when his bicycle and the lorry were said to have been in collision.

Tuffs was not legally represented at today’s hearing and Judge Rupert Overbury adjourned the case to allow Tuff’s legal team to attend the next hearing when a trial date will be discussed.
