CWU employees pensions (CWU re-design)

Post by stephen500 »

Dave Ward in a brief on a meeting to be held with reps entitled "Re-design [of CWU] briefing", writes that "We have been talking to the staff side unions and our employees on pensions and VRs. We have seen a number of staff leave CWU HQ before Christmas on a voluntary basis. We have made it very clear that at the end of our re-design project we will have no compulsory redundancies and the CWU pensions scheme will remain an excellent one."
Really!
Is our own union seeking to reduce the pension benefits of its own employees?
It may remain an excellent pension, but the wording suggests it will not be as good as it was.
This really appears awful, if our own union can reduced its employees benefits, what hope have we of it protecting our benefits.
If any one tells you a union which is bankrupt cannot help it's employees, don't think that includes our CWU.
We had an income year ending Apr 2015 of £31 million and paid Dave Ward £15,000 into his pension fund.
I expect to hold my union to a higher standard than my employee.
