Dividend Payout 2016

Has anybody any info on this years December/January dividend payout ?

It will be announced in the results in November I think it is on the 17th. Seeing as we seem to be doing OK, judging by the amount of work coming through the doors, the interim divi payment will probably be same or slightly higher than last yrs, although nothing is guaranteed of course.

Pure guess but I think the interim dividend will be around 7.2p a share - to be annouced at the end of this month and to be paid in January.

so those FT who have not sold (I have now) will if I am right get a payment of around £65 and £21 for those who sold all.

You sold? Got your cash yet? I'm thinking of selling, might not have to pay Tax and NI in 2 years but we could all be dead by then or they could be worth a quid each, it's a gamble. Quite fancy a nice holiday next year, that would pay for it.

why ask if someone else has sold at the end of the day its up to you. might be worth more maybe less but sure as you say we could all be dead or lot richer

when I sell mine in 3 years it will go towards japan 2020 Olympics,australia to see my mate,or a week in Skegness,hope its one of the first two.

No - you have to have the shares on the "Record Date". Though this is usually only a few days after the Dividend announcement this is the date you need to watch. However, as the price of the shares tends to drop by the amount of the dividend, losses on not getting the dividend are usually small, if you intend on selling

ie 1 Dec dividend of 17p announced, shares usually drop by 17p on the record date to take it into account.

Assuming no other news influences the share price at the same time, the share price will always go down at dividend payment time. This is because the company will be worth less - the money for the dividend payment has to come from somewhere. The dividend removes capital from the balance sheet and hands it over to the share holders, hence the drop in share price/value.

Also, with dividends it is worth keeping an eye on company announcements. If there is a significant change in corporate outlook, the company would be expected to warn the stock market as soon as it is reasonable to do so. Companies that fail to warn tend to be "punished" by the market.
