I'm 55 in the middle of April and I asked for a pension projection exactly three months before this date in mid January. I promptly filled in the forms, took them into the sorting office and all necessary ID and paperwork has been with the pensions department since the beginning of Feb'. Since then I've heard nothing.
Is it the norm for them to give you a projection just prior to your 55th birthday no matter how quickly you apply (bearing in mind the 3 month maximum)? Or could they possibly have mislaid my forms? Needless to say if I hear the words "lost in the post" I wont be best pleased Six weeks does seem to be getting to the point where I'm justifiably wondering what they're playing at.
Anyone else asked for a projection at the earliest opportunity and then found it hasn't benefited them?

I’ve found the pension service centre to be quite inefficient over the years as they have got me mixed up with other people and failed to do as I’ve requested. i've also been waiting for my projection, i sent off id etc a few weeks ago and although my 55th isn't till May i had hoped to get a reply pretty quickly. Its frustrating if i do have to wait till May as i had plans for the lump sum and need to know the figures. If i were you i would give them a ring as i would have thought that you would have had it by now. By the way, How did you escape...evr?
I had an accident maidstoneposty, took them to court, beat them and then accepted been invalided out. And like 99% of people who quit, I've never regretted it. Can't say life is a bed of roses now (self employed) but I'm much happier than I was at RM. I certainly spend a lot less time being angry !!!
Hi guys. I'm quite surprised to read that some of you are surprised by the inefficiency of the pension administrators. I've already complained to the pensions advisory service and then the ombudsman. They refused to give me a pension projection a few years ago when I was considering VR. Their attitude was a cant be bothered attitude The amount of my pension and lump sum would've determined whether I took VR but still wouldn't give me even a guesstimate. Like yourselves I wrote away mid February and completed the paperwork. I will be 55 in 3 weeks and still not a word!! Just totally inefficient.
They are not helpful at all, I am looking at VR and I am only 53 they said they cannot give me any figures now, all i wanted was a rough idea how much my pension would be if I left now, it would help me make my decision on VR
