PostNL Postman fired after dumping condolence cards

PostNL has fired one of their postmen after it was discovered that he placed 45 letters of condolence in the trash in July, a spokesperson for the company confirms to Noordhollands Dagblad.

PostNL came to know about the incident when a resident of Zaandam found the letters in a trash can next to a snack bar.

The company immediately contacted the affected parties to offer their excuses. A separate postman re-delivered the letters, and took the opportunity to bid excuses to the recipients once again.

The PostNL spokesperson says he does not know if the action caused anybody to miss a funeral or cremation ceremony.

“We have never experienced this”, the spokesperson says of the situation. According to the company, the postman in question could not say why he did it. PostNL has filed a lawsuit against him.
