Eligible employees to receive SIP 2014 formal allocation notices from today
From today, eligible employees will receive their SIP 2014 formal allocation notice. This sets out the number of Free Shares they have been given as their SIP 2014 allocation.
The formal allocation notice also sets out when eligible employees were given their SIP 2014 Free Shares (on 9 April 2014), the initial market value of the Free Shares (see jargon buster), and the holding period.
Remember, under HM Revenue & Customs rules, you cannot sell or withdraw your Free Shares from the SIP for three years from the date you are given them (holding period), except in certain circumstances. This means the value of the shares, if and when you sell them, will probably change from the initial market value.
Your formal allocation notice has been issued by the Trustee of the Royal Mail Share Incentive Plan. The Trustee is holding your Free Shares on your behalf.
Your formal allocation notice is a document of record, so please keep this somewhere safe.
