POST OFFICE: ADMIN / SUPPLY CHAIN – DISPUTE ARISING FROM A PAY FREEZE AND UNAGREED PENSION CHANGES

We have today served formal notice on the Post Office for an industrial action ballot for our Admin and Supply Chain members. The timetable is as follows:

Ballot Papers Dispatched - Thursday 10th October
Ballot Closes - Wednesday 23rd October

Background to Dispute
As a reminder, this trade dispute is primarily in regard to the Post Office’s policy of a pay freeze for all Post Office members. This was confirmed in Paula Vennells’ letter to me dated 19th February 2013 in which she stated: “... there will be no consolidated pay increase for anyone working for the Post Office until 2015 as part of the annual pay reviews ...”
This policy was also reiterated in a press release in respect of the Crown members’ pay dispute as follows: “A pay freeze remains in place across the rest of the Post Office business”.

Next Steps
It is imperative that all members vote YES and Branches are urged to encourage members to use their vote in order that we achieve a high turnout.
